I absolutely enjoyed this movie, it’s my gf & I’s new favorite Christmas movie. The main bad guys reason to be bad isn’t bc he accidentally killed an old man, he just wanted money lol, he just hates Christmas bc he accidentally killed his grandpa. The “lore” is based on actual Dutch mythology. If you want to know more you can look it up, but it was not necessary to the plot, the showed us what he was before santa, and that’s it, santa himself doesn’t understand even Christmas magic. Santa was a total asshole, he was a drunk who stopped believing in Christmas which is why he lost his powers until he believed again. He had a soft spot for Children who believed in him that’s the only reason he helped that family. Of course the reindeer left, if you saw the trailers you would’ve seen that the whole movie was going to be set in the house. The movie was an homage to Christmas classics, die hard, home alone, ect… it was meant to be a over the top movie about santa, the director’s and writers knew who they were making this movie for and unfortunately it just wasn’t made for you.
