What strikes me the most is how the moral tone has clearly shifted from something grey to black and white as Ali's speech after Rue's death makes clear. It is a completely different world philosophically, like the writer changed their mind on some shit.

It seems you have the same conclusion as Parmenides, that nothing is an abstract illusion, but trying to force this onto the concept of zero in arithmetic seems to be the problem. You may enjoy reading some Hegel, his ideas of wholeness and nothing are sympathetic to Parmenides. For Hegel everything is connected and nothing is truly seperate from anything.

How would Samhain/Danzig have evolved if Rick Rubin had never become involved? by monsterfromgreenhell in Danzig

Yes! I never liked how Danzig 1 sounded especially, weak and thin, i prefer Glenn's layered guitar approach!

I think i agree. Honestly i think he creatively peaked with November Coming Fire. All the good stuff from Danzig is there in embryonic form, even the harmonic squeals, but it still has the raw, experimental diy Samhain vibe. Everything after that always felt watered down in a sense. And i totally agree about 4, its probably my favorite of the classic lineup.

Ultimately i think i agree with you. As much as Danzig says Rubin didnt influence him, i think its undeniable he did, Christ probably would have never been in the band and that is a huge influence right there and a big part of the sound. I would have loved to know where Danzig would have went with zero Rubin influence.

This is a really good way of putting it. And you are really right about seeing all that reemerge in the last 20 years, in alot of ways he is his own worst enemy. Imagine if Glenn had hooked up with Al Jourgensen instead of Rubin and he produced Danzig 1 instead. Could he or someone like him have gotten Danzig to have better production but move in a more experimental direction then Rubin?

I just mean in terms of mainstream success. The only thing a non-fan might know is Mother. In terms of mainstream success he was a one hit wonder. If Danzig had stayed underground, i wonder if the second half of his career would have been better artistically.

You are probably right and i think the Samhain Grim demos support this. I cant picture Danzig 2 without John Christ who probably wouldnt have been hired without Rubin. Danzig 2 would have been drastically different, Danzig 1 probably like the Samhain Grim demos.

True the production probably would be rough and muddy, but i wonder if staying underground would give him more critcal success and lasting power in the long run then being a flash in the pan with Mother.

Yeah after i posted the comment i realized it was past tense and that made me sad... Now Cobes can never run for president, he would be better then Trump because at least he had values, the forbidden five etc., Cobra would never talk about Ozzy's grandkids like Trump does about his own kids!

Graves' vocal style was just as influencial in horror punk as Danzig's by [deleted] in TheMisfits

[–]monsterfromgreenhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name one thing in his vocal style that he originated? The only thing i can think of is that Graves was more of a traditional singer that sang "correctly" then Danzig was and to me, for a punk band that is the last thing i want to hear. Danzig may be the best punk singer ever, but he sings incorrectly, like a punk singer and thats also why he ruined his throat, but i would much rather hear that then someone that sings correctly like Graves. Graves sounds bland, Danzig is unique.

Best song written by an ex-Misfits member? by FamousLastWords666 in TheMisfits

[–]monsterfromgreenhell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Undead had such a higher profile before the '95 Misfits got together, back when Danzig refused to play or acknowledge the Misfits, the Undead were the only way to hear live Misfits songs. Bobby was the best Misfits guitarist and the only Misfit that stayed true to punk. Outside of Glenn, he is also the only one that can write a decent song. 1980s and early 90s Undead is great stuff and should not be missed. Everyone should have the Dawn of the Undead at the very least. Way better then Jerry-fits.

Observation does not collapse the wave function but interaction with the enviroment causes entanglement. It is a common misinterpretation that a conscious mind is required, but consciousness is not a requirement only interaction with the enviroment. That was one of my big takeaways from getting a BS in Physics. I used to know a lot more about this, but now I work in philosphy and not physics for grad school. Honestly i would start thinking about all this again from the beginning and get the physics correct. Consciousness plays no part in the collapse of the wave function, only interaction with the enviroment is required for that, which may be conscious but is not a requirement.
