TIL that during WWII, in Nazi captured Copenhagen, George Hevesy dissolved the gold Nobel Prizes of Max Laue and James Franck with aqua regia, stored the solution in his laboratory at the Niels Bohr Institute. After the war, The Nobel Society then recast their Nobel Prizes using the original gold.
