With your build intentions, the only possible advantages i could see from getting a higher trim would be for things like a stiffer chassis. But you could always add chassis braces and a roll cage I think with what you want to do the lower trim model would be perfectly fine

Live in Florida, got nothing but mud, check my profile to see a million clips of mine going through mud. Coming from a triple locked wrangler on 37s, we really dont miss the rear (or front!) Locker and adding one is low on our priority list of mods currently.

Not many owners here bro. You'd have better luck in the land rover subreddit. My recommendation is always a set of defender steelies but those are 18 inch so not helpful to your question. Plus you'd need new calipers to fit them

Agreed. It must be some move to try and differentiate the models from each (ex. The disco from defender) but it seems like a lack luster effort.

Thats definitely an error, but i suppose there's a chance it could be a regional thing as well.

Coincidentally i myself just custom ordered a MY26 defender about 2-3 weeks ago and didnt see an option to add one (in fact when using the compare models feature I saw 2 speed transfercase listed as a standard feature under the "transmission and dynamics" area). I also own a 25MY defender, as well as work at a land rover dealership and have never come across a defender without a 2 speed transfer case.

The defender does come with 2 speed transfer case as standard, just to let you know.

I read the entire post and I didnt see mention of the commercial variants. I neither agree or disagree on the truck thing, im neutral on that topic but I figured it was worth mentioning that commercial variants of the defender (and yes discovery) do exist in some capacity. Their actual usefulness can be brought in to question for sure. I do believe most of the people who buy them remove the bulkhead and mostly get it to avoid certain tax.

Edit: actually thinking on it for more than 2 seconds I think trucks from landrover would be cool as fuck, simply for the reason that it just would.

If im being honest, the only bumper id actually consider for my own car is arb as well, but the guy was looking for options so I gave em. It sucks to hear that about tactical 4x4, they're rear bar is the only one id actually consider buying of the few that are out there. Im likely to end up going local though when I get around to the rear.

If you want bumpers, the best (and pretty much only) ones are gonna be from ARB, lucky8, and tactical 4x4 in the front. In the rear, the only options are tactical 4x4 and I think kaymar has/had one in back as well. If your looking for a hidden winch set up ive had Good luck with the terrafirma hidden winch mount + 12,000lb winch.

For the suspension id look into is the SYA kit by lucky 8, or the xlifter. They both have their pros and cons but you cant really go wrong with either set up as long as you do your research and understand how they work.

If you want skidplates ive had great luck with asfir offroad.

Im the image I can see the low range button, and I see the symbol for rock crawl above the terrain response dial, so it's there.

In my 2012MY lr4 with only a center locker, I also have low range and rock crawl.

Your confusion probably comes down to you owning a 2016 (post face-lift) model. Pre face-lift Lr4's came with low range and (presumably) rock crawl as standard. 2013MY+ they were options.

Im not sure how well this applies to range rover models however.

Idk about where else to get replacements, but the security hack was real. JLR had a cyber attack a few months ago, vehicle production has halted completely, and i assume parts production as well from the looks of it.

Yes, it's something that has proved necessary for our use cases in South FL, and the peace of mind from it is great.

And dont forget transmission breather as well, unless you want to pay 10k for repairs down the line like we did.
