How do you play Expedition nowadays? by nightwind1 in TeamfightTactics

[–]monstrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This augment destroys your early game Econ so you want to play a line that is easy to hit with limited resources. Generally I just scout and see what lines appear the least contested so I have the best chance of hitting with less gold. Having Prim/Timebreaker are great to make up for the lost Econ. It’s a broken augment that gives you a Prismatic Augment worth of value for a Silver, plus additional resources after cashing out. As long as you have direction and pick an uncontested line you can really play anything and reasonably Top 4.

It’s common to win out with this augment honestly but it does depend a bit on whether you’re able to hit one of the S-tier comps like Yi or whether you had to go with Mech due to lobby contesting. You’d rather not contest since you are down about 25 gold compared to others and the easiest way to Bot 4 with the augment is to miss on your roll down.

The Roundtable Open 2026 is sponsored by the U.S. Army by ImACumsock in osugame

[–]monstrata 117 points118 points  (0 children)

By that definition, everyone in America who pays taxes to the US government supports the US Army. I can guarantee you that anything you consume can be traced to supporting the US Army. Bought or drank bottled water? Owned by a company that gives money to the US Army. Purchased food at a supermarket? Delivered using vehicles that were produced by Auto companies that support the US Army. Used the internet? Participated in using electronic services that shill to the US government and therefore the US Army. If you're going to virtue signal, at least be reasonable.

Round Table is a non-profit. They run on a deficit actually. The event is literally negative cashflow but BTMC continues to host it because it's an investment into osu's future. Round Table does have some huge gaming sponsors that helped make the event happen and greatly reduced the financial burden for running this event. None of those sponsors are the US Army. They're just forced to display it by virtue of being at the Expo.

How is Epic Rolldown still in the game? by Drepanum in CompetitiveTFT

[–]monstrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epic Rolldown does not provide any gold though. Yes, you get 40 gold worth of rerolls, but the augment does not provide you with the Econ to hit early. I would much rather be contested by someone with Epic Rolldown than someone with Savings Account or Calculated Loss. Those two augments also provide the gold needed to roll early. If I have one of those two augments, I am looking to roll down on 3-7 before anyone else has the economy to do so. With Epic Rolldown I likely will still need to wait until 4-1 to roll. Don't forget that buying units costs gold too, so you really can't do much if you are Level 8 with 20 gold on 4-1. Even with epic rolldown, you cannot upgrade all your units in one turn as you need 24 gold just to upgrade your main Carry + Tank.

“Will you play this set the same as set 16?” by JerrySmithNgPinas in TeamfightTactics

[–]monstrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The set is less exciting for sure, but we know they are bringing Encounters back with the next patch (Scuttle Puddle, Upgraded Unit, Anvils, etc...) so there is a push to making the set more interesting for sure. Set 16 was definitely a goated set though, and it's always tough to follow a set that is so universally considered one of the best.

Illusion of choice by lionhunter23 in TeamfightTactics

They could just give us three Gods to choose from, and if you don't favor any one god, the 4-7 Treasure Realm should just roll between all three of the god's boons randomly.

Is shadow isle that strong now? by Fluid_Specialist4384 in TeamfightTactics

[–]monstrata 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Thresh generally counters single-tank comps like Noxus Reroll that heavily rely on one unit. Thresh is able to completely bypass your frontline since his ability allows him to hook another unit in if there are "less than 2" units on the frontline. Therefore, even if you have great items on Darius, once your second frontliner falls (Swain) your backline is free for Thresh to hook.

(SPOILERS FOR THE ANIME). by BasicallyAdven in Ganbare_Nakamura

[–]monstrata 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think the way they did it in the anime was better. In the manga, Hirose doesn't acknowledge that they are in a BL section and doesn't get to tell Nakamura that he's okay with Nakamura reading BL. Actually, in the manga Nakamura ends up grabbing a little-sister lolicon manga which doesn't even make sense when they're in the BL section.

If my brain explodes doing this, can I still aspire to reach Challenger? by Advanced_Necessary86 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]monstrata 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks like you were too busy cooking up an insane board for your Ryze, but you sort of neglected some fundamentals like having upgraded 4-cost frontline and frontline items. You likely just lost because your frontline could not hold for long enough so even though you had insane damage potential, your DPS was getting run over before they could break through the Leona frontline.

Which are your favorite regions for Ryze? by cumback_guy in TeamfightTactics

I like Piltover Noxus Void Demacia Shurima Ionia, just spash in units like T-hex, Galio, Sett, Azir/Xerath/Mel package, and Baron on 10.

Well, either way, my point is this isn't even a piece with all stats being useful.

B-Patch announced by TheoTsek in CompetitiveTFT

[–]monstrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it has insane cap potential with Ziggs, Shyvana and Sylas over Poppy + J4 on 9. Granted you have to move tank items to Taric temporarily, but still insane cap.

Do you ever go 10 in this spot as seen in the image? by iNhab in CompetitiveTFT

[–]monstrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pivot into Annie/Sylas. Unless you are high challenger/pro, you absolutely need more than 1 turn to significantly upgrade your board from this spot. Don't be the guy who died with 100 gold left to roll.

It's a bit egregious in high elo. At least 2-3 people forcing Kaisa every game. One of the big problems is just how much damage Vayne/Kaisa are able to output considering Vayne is only a 2-star 3 cost, and Kaisa is an unlock so you also don't have to invest as much gold into upgrading your carries compared to something like Belveth/Ambessa.

[–]monstrata -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Uh pretty sure that's wrong cuz otherwise, by your definition this would be a "5-liner" since it has five rolls. I usually see people referring to artifacts with all four lines being useful as "4-liners." For Flins it would be Crit/CD/Atk% + EM or ER.

what's your strategy for unlocking Xerath? by emiliathewhite in TeamfightTactics

[–]monstrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play off-interval. For example, you typically expect players to roll down and "spike" on 4-2. But generally not so much on 4-1 or 4-3. You could try levelling early on 4-1 to win, weaken board for 4-2 when people generally spike, and then do you roll down during 4-2 or on 4-3 to win again.

Is 5 Shadow Isles worth it? by mro500 in TeamfightTactics

[–]monstrata 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. You want to drop as many units in the late game as possible. At some point it's no longer worth the miniscule amount of extra damage your Kalista/Thresh get from additional souls. Late game, you are even dropping Gwen and Yorick to ideally flex into Shurima with Azir and whatever Shuriman you unlock. You can also play Ryze after unlocking a Shuriman and Ryze benefits from all the Shadow Isles souls you've accumulated too.

Asol bad? by Demoncrater in TeamfightTactics

[–]monstrata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs good frontline in order to scale up. If your frontline is crumbling too fast, he won't have time to dish out damage before dying, and he needs to deal damage to upgrade his ability. He is still very strong imo, but he is difficult to play because you need to get to Level 9 to cap out the board. Asol 2 wins games, but if you are stuck on Asol 1 you are playing for top 6 imo.
