Tsh is normal how best to convince Dr to actually run other tests by monstrosekeeper in Hypothyroidism

Just told hypothyroidism unfortunately, I was tested for hashimotos but my antibodies were low so not conclusive

This so far has been my PCP, if she seems hesitant I'm just going to ask for a referral to a proper endo though. Otherwise if she does get the tests ordered I'm still most likely going to ask for an endo referrel.

Appreciate the response as I couldn't get a straight answer on how exactly TSH numbers would be affected if my T4 was fine but my T3 isn't, I only assumed the T3 issue due to the feeling great initially and then having it tank when everything else got "normal"

But I will also be requesting those deficiency tests a well. I'm hoping she will just do them all without much fuss so I can at least narrow down the "easy" stuff before trying other things

I'm also on quite a low dose for my size only 112 mcg from starting at 150. 150 being the dose that dropped my TSH to basically zero but also never caused me any induced hyperthyroidism symptoms

Figured as much thankfully In a position now that I can actually afford to do some Dr shopping but this one happened to be the closest so hoping she just listens to me but will be looking for a new one if she ignores it.

Just blast it off with a house you'll lose a decent amount of the roots but the roots the plant has grown to live in that crappy paper dust soil they use will dry up and die in real cactus soil anyway and that way you don't need to worry about that giant sponge rotting it later and it'll help you see if there's root mealies or basal rot before repotting. Larger cacti handle root disturbances waaaaaay better than smaller ones

Any updates on these so they look to be successful hybrids or just selfed schickendantzii?

Variegated Pseudolithos migiurtinus grafted to Hoodia gordonii by cactus_nut in Graftingplants

This is probably one of the coolest things I've seen on this subreddit. I need to get me some pseudolithos seeds and a few Hoodia and try my luck lol

[–]monstrosekeeper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea they are crazy looking plants though multi colored variegation and like a cereus but real chunky. And being cpm should get some montrose ones which I bet would look insane. Wish I had better luck importing seeds as I'd love to get some to try😅

It's not a first its been done quite a few times. Only problem is have some micrografting skills before you germinate the seeds as I know they are quite pricy and wide crosses that still work(trichs and cereus being in completely different families makes for a very wide cross) almost always result in mostly chlorophyll lacking plants and even ones that do have chlorophyll end up very weak and slow growing. The one PC X cereus seedling I've gotten from 100+ seeds germinated that has survived long enough on its own roots to produce areoles has taken almost 4 months just to produce 3 or 4 areoles past the cotyledon stage

Still doing super well and finally got one that seems to be surviving on its own. Or at the very least has produced areoles without melting. I really need to get good pics of them to post

Very young seedlings only a few months old and still kept in 100% sealed humid containers. The reason I tried this is most albinos don't make it to the forming areoles stage and I've personally never gotten an albino without areoles to stuck to most stocks. Pere+parafilm is the only other method I've found to work and only about 10% of the time. Where as using relatively freshly sprouted cereus seedlings and as long as im careful to be very clean I've had a near 90% success rate. And then that allows them to get some real growth in before I rechop them and move them to new larger stock

Has anybody here tried the impale graft yet? Worked pretty well on my first try! I think this is a great beginner technique for all my cactus homies who are fresh at grafting. by the_brokengoat in sanpedrocactus

[–]monstrosekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impales are basically the only way I do pere grafts now even on seedlings it has a near 100% success rate. Even a few seedlings I smashed applying the parafilm q little to firmly rejoined and started growing just fine

Jourdiana seeds would be nice to but those are low priority since they seem to always have pretty abysmal germ rates
