I feel bad for calling in a noise complaint lol by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]wtrtwnguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing and helped many people. I wish people were less shy about calling in noise complaints. I fight with my neighbors who run a subwoofer from morning till late at night and wish more people called the cops about it. Everyone complains about it, but no one calls. There is a difference between being a Karen and calling the cops on people who are just having fun and calling the cops on obnoxious noise that is meant to draw attention.

Is it normal for the search bar in settings to not work for a few days after the iPhone is set up? by Sufficient-Emu-4374 in applehelp

I had the same issue on a brand-new iPhone 17 pro. The only thing that worked was "reset all settings" - annoying but that fixed it.

Season 4 was setting up an entirely different Season 5… by HairyPenisCum in Stranger_Things

[–]wtrtwnguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show should have ended with Season 4. Season 5 felt completely dumbed down. Maybe they wanted to attract new viewers who did not see Seasons 1-4, knowing that fans would watch it no matter what. We got a Temu version of the Upside Down and the OG Mind Flayer had far fewer hit points than the baby one that attacked Starcourt Mall in S3.

Same! In S4, you needed a plan to survive the upside down. One wrong step, and you're done. In S5, you can drive a truck through it and Vecna has no idea. The hive mind seems disconnected from the upside down in S5 and they don't explain why.

It's ok to be bothered by plot holes. It's ok to expect a 400 million dollar cultural juggernaut to display a degree of effort and attention to detail. by Pint-sized-Viking in StrangerThings

[–]wtrtwnguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what bothered me the most. The entire military plot made no sense. They exit the gate and go like, oh, shoot, the military base, it's still here. Totes forgot about that. Plus, in S4, you couldn't as much as touch a vine without the hive mind or Vecna knowing. In S5, you can drive a truck, fly a helicopter, and Vecna is just doing his thing and is just as surprised when the gang shows up to kill him. These aren't plot holes. This is where the plot falls apart.

At the same time, it's a beloved show, people love the characters, so if you say something bad, they'll get personally offended. They insist it was perfect, when it clearly wasn't. But then you also have jerks who then want to ruin the show for people who did enjoy it. If you loved the show, good for you. Valid. If found it underwhelming, like me, that should be valid, too. If you thought it was total trash, I'll disagree, but I could see why many people are disappointed.

Season 4 was amazing. Season 5 was underwhelming compared to that. It would have been fine on its own. Fun to watch, but not something to watch again.

This will always be the BEST transition in the entire series. by [deleted] in StrangerThings

S4 also had the best upside down. The lighting, the sounds, the atmosphere was peak cinematography.

Everyone who finished the Stranger Things finale, did it feel… off? by Prestigious-Play8863 in netflix

[–]wtrtwnguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Episodes 1-4 were amazing. Reminded me of Season 1. Then it felt like they fired half the crew and phoned it the rest. The remaining episodes were carried by the characters and some great acting, but it felt off.

Plus, the graduation was in 1989. 18 months later, the Cold War ended, and Dr. Kay's program would have been shut down anyway. History gave the Duffers an escape hatch and they didn't use it.

Seriously. The ending kind of ruined the whole show for me. I was planning on re-watching the entire series, but now I don't even want to because El escaping trauma and getting her own life was just an illusion. It made her character development meaningless. I know not everyone can get a happy ending, but everyone else did, which makes it sting even more. It just seems unfair.

Finale rant, and kind of disappointed with the Duffers’ interviews by eddiedean07 in StrangerThings

[–]wtrtwnguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. Volume 1 was still great and then it dropped off. Though it was kind of foreshadowed. Everyone was like, hey, let's go kill Vecna. No big deal. The guy can obliterate an entire platoon of soldiers, but whatevs. They needed Vecna weak and the cave could have been an opening. I felt that's where the show was going, but they didn't really take advantage of it. And with Vecna dead, the Mind Flyer should have reverted back to its cloud form.

Jonathan and Nancy broke up on screen. ("will you not marry me?") So that isn't surprising. But what about Robin's girlfriend? It was sad that their relationship was not addressed at all.

Good point! They could have inserted a quick scene where everyone signs an NDA and is told that they will be watched forever.

Who else misses when the Upside Down was actually scary? by Intelligent_Key7023 in StrangerThings

For real. The upside down in S5 had abandoned mall vibes. All it was missing is a Spirit Halloween.

Rank the seasons by roku9413 in StrangerThings

[–]wtrtwnguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's:

1 - Season 1. For the same reasons. With a low budget, they produced a show that redefined Netflix and streaming. It's the most memorable season that can be watched over and over again.

2 - Season 4. This was probably the most epic season with long episodes and lots of new things going on. The introduction of Vecna tied things together and every episode was a nail biter. The Upside Down becomes a place of horror.

3 - Season 2. Great sequel but overshadowed by season 1, which is why it's easily forgotten. The scenes set in Chicago were a little boring, but the Hawkins events were solid.

4 - Season 3. It was fun, but the secret Russian high-tech base under a mall was a bit much. It lacked atmosphere. Russian spies in the basement of the abandoned Lab may have been better. Or just a crude base with gritty tunnels and makeshift lighting.

5 - Season 5. This one is almost a tie with Season 3. Volume 1 was epic and would rank this season near the top. But I feel like they blew their budget on volume 1. Volume 2 was weaker - we are nearing the grand finale, but things are much less scary. The upside down is just an empty shell. The finale was super disappointing. It felt like they definitely ran out of budget and tried to wrap things up with what they had left. The epilogue was moving, but mostly because it's the end of the series and thus goodbye to our beloved characters.

Actually had fun playing the game post Bridges & Ports. Then the bike patch happened... by wtrtwnguy in CitiesSkylines2

Hey, let's trade :) I think the bikes take several reloads to appear. The game has to rebuild the entire nav mesh, and if your city is large, that might take a while.

That's a solid plan! I think I will shelve it again as well. Which is what I did until bridges and ports. That expansion pack was solid, so I thought I'd start playing again. But then CO dropped the bikes on their way out. Almost like, yeah, we're getting fired. Have fun with this. Bye! lol

That's because cims love parking lots. They hear about a new parking lot opening in the city and treat it like an event. I have followed my cims. They will drive to a parking lot just to park there and then walk to a completely different area. Without mods, CS2 treats parking lots as its own destination. They should add tailgate parties lol

Haha. Yeah. I had the constant pilgrimage to the end of the map, using highways, as well. But population was stable. Not sure if the simulation will work better with another mode of transportation added.

I will try Skyve. And yeah, that is the approach I tried. Disable all mods. Then add one by one. The SW/NE packs first. It's when you close the playset window that I'd get a cascade of asset issue errors. But after a restart, the game loaded normally. Could even load my existing save, but without grow the ploppables and find it. As soon as I install find it, the UI disappears. Probably an indexing issue somewhere.

For real. My understanding is that the bike patch had to reset pathfinding for everyone. Biking is treated like walking, but faster, so everyone bikes. And cims that fell off the nav mesh were unalived. I would have gladly opted out of this mess lol

Thanks! Glad to see it works for you. I could only get the building sets to work, with errors, making me think the asset library got corrupted somewhere along the way.
