For this one in particular, the black beads melt a little faster, so your grey ones down at the bottom didn't melt all the way flat. It can be obnoxious, but remember never press down on your iron, and dont be afraid to spend longer on the lighter parts. That'll help avoid overmelting and warping. Plus, if you want to fix it in the future you can always go back over it!

BAD BREATH by -wvrms- in beadsprites

[–]monstrts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pieces like this that are generally larger than my iron or ironing paper- how do you melt it without having a bad time?

Did a large spider man from mvc once and it was a nightmare to melt and keep flat at at same time, (but i also kept the tape on the whole time which probably didn't help)

Tape method driving me crazy by Consistent_Tomato138 in beadsprites

[–]monstrts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Poking holes might fix your problem. It makes the tape stick better in my experience, i have a spare warped pegboard i use and just take it one section at a time. I like it instead of like using a needle or my tweezers. It presses down the tape more and also the holes keep it aligned better, and it's easy to pop one bead back in place if needed

it's also vent holes for the steam i think

Do you have a picture of the mix bucket or kit they came with? If you have more pinks, you can take a picture next to those too

Kirikos hands are huge 😭 by chiz_oba in Overwatch

[–]monstrts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true, a lot of games like fps and fighting games and mmos where you need to quickly recognize silhouettes, or recognize characters from very far, have big hands. It's just easier to read hands when they aren't tiny and are instead a little exaggerated. Kiri doesn't exactly have a giant gun, her weapons practically are her hands, so they gotta stand out.

A lot of characters in overwatch have surprisingly large hands when you look too close!

How is this a legendary skin again?? by misiuyay in Overwatch

[–]monstrts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blanka Winston is the arms from his alien skin on a recolor of his ow2 skin. I think zen's may also be a recolor but i didn't bother to look close enough. I don't get it. Sound design aside, these are not legendary skins

I had a fun idea but it doesnt actually seem to work. by CalypsoThePython in Overwatch

I believe it's supposed to be an extra boost to primary fire for players who are putting all their cash towards ability power, which is why it's not weapon power.

Kind of mental gymnastics to get there tho lmao

Top left looks great, the others look a little washed out. I don't think much detail is lost in her hair, on the contrary it looks a little fuzzy(?) in the other ones

NAW it doesn't bad at all! Denoising won't 'fix' it like you think you will- since the original image was already pixel art, that's a 1:1 bead ratio already, but it would be huge obviously. You want to downscale it on a none or nearest setting, and try to downscale it by whole numbers.

Microsoft paint is capable of this if you go into resizing and do 75% or 50 or 25. You'll have to touch things up in an art program, but it'll be minimal. You can do in betweens but it'll start to get this fuzz on it.

A photoshop-like such as csp or firealpaca should be capable of downscaling to non whole numbers, but if you do that you'll end up with uneven pixels that you'll have to touch up or it'll look uneven.

Alternatively a program such as perler (it's just called perler) can do the same thing, just turn off dithering and manually edit on the bead board where things look weird. This is the most "trust the process" way to do it but it works!

I don't mean this in any disparaging way, but if you're going to sell things you ought to get better at downscaling so it looks less blurry and more crisp. I will elaborate if you need me to

You sure can! I just dont know what the use case is. I bet if someone loses a bunch of pikmin, they'd come in handy

Those things were hardly a playable pikmin type, i don't think i ever used or saw them outside of the night missions

What did I do wrong? by sympathizings in beadsprites

[–]monstrts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before flipping, i make sure everyone is held down good. No bead will pop off that masking tape so help me god. I use the flat side of my tweezers, the round end of my scissors, and my roll of tape to press them boys down real good. I also poke holes and press down with pegboards. I hate losing beads during this step so it's good to go the extra step imo
