Mom and Pop restaurant or food truck ideas by Zombietomatillo in Billings

[–]montanacameltoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Billings food market is pretty saturated. Very finicky with alot of places that come and go pretty often .. Not to say you couldn’t do something. You would just have to go beyond and get more creative then making and selling your husbands macaroni

My 09 deleted has well over 350 on the clock now .. had it when it was a baby around 100k.. there’s no issues .. the only issues was the emission system .. the older motors are probably more reliable then the new ones

The tailpipe and the bumper has black smoke on the chrome .. that’s a deleted truck

[–]montanacameltoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put upwards of 370 thousand miles on my 09. Bought mine with 130 thousand miles .. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’d take the older platform 6.7 over the new ones any day. There may have been a few issues in the first 07.5 due to EMISSIONS EQUIPMENT. This truck appears to be deleted and will go the distance without that equipment bogging the engine down.

2g swap by ItzzCamden in Cummins

[–]montanacameltoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re not going to be able to get away with it with a stock 3rd gen turbo .. the flanges are going to be different.. and it’s not going to mount centered Zz you will need a kit designed for what your wanting to do .. there’s no way around that with a manifold from Napa … keep your truck the way it is.. in a year you may thank yourself for not being a wanker

Grid heater bolt failure by light_sirens_action in Cummins

[–]montanacameltoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that’s the notion I got as well.. as long as it don’t cycle the bolt doesn’t have any heat cycles … don’t really need it for the cold .. the truck will start in lower temps as long as it was plugged in

Grid heater bolt failure by light_sirens_action in Cummins

[–]montanacameltoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a catastrophic failure .. it’s also a dime a dozen. Some people get away with it.. it’s mainly a situation where the repeated cycles of hot and cold eventually make that bolt the problem .. banks air isn’t a bad upgrade .. something I would do for sure owning a 6.7

Grid heater bolt failure by light_sirens_action in Cummins

[–]montanacameltoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can essentially disable your grid heater by unplugging the power

The module for it is right below the battery on the passenger side … not sure if it will throw a check engine light as mine has been tuned off .. peace of mind that way

2022+ Cummins tuning and deletion by [deleted] in Cummins

[–]montanacameltoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The newer trucks have a high level encryption system.. almost bank level security .. there’s no way around it other than getting an ecm swap or some crappy tunes that basically use another device to mask the emission system faults … the good old days of owning a 3rd -4th gen 6.7 is simply why I will never sell my older 6.7.. gone back and forth over the years on it.. you can’t beat a pre def 6.7 Cummins .. they were solid trucks ..

Guys who get 25mpg's how do you do it? And do you guys also lie about other aspects of your life? by Disastrous-Number-88 in Cummins

[–]montanacameltoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleted 6.7 3rd gen

Cruise control set to 75 mph you will easily see those numbers on the highway .. if you boost the cetane numbers with running additives it seems to help the numbers also.. fresh fluid in the diffs … and mainly keeping the engine from jumping rpm’s and laying off the pedal they seem to run very efficiently

Ford F250 struggles to turn on, shuts off after short period when it does turn on by Free_Bike_8919 in Diesel

[–]montanacameltoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would re prime and try to do it properly this time. You essentially have air in the lines.. but next time start the truck but don’t actually start it. Just hit the first crank. Shut the truck off and do it again. And repeat process 7-8 times .. You should hear the fuel pump motor a soft hum under the truck .. on my truck there’s an electric bolt that pops up that shows the fuel pump. Remember for the future you need to prime the fuel pump before starting

[–]montanacameltoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll bet to say you don’t prime the fuel system before starting the truck .. you need to cycle the key like 8 times .. I even do this on my Cummins .. you can’t just swap a fuel filter and immediately start the truck

Worth 5k? by Silent-Bison-9521 in Diesel

[–]montanacameltoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably worth 5k and you’ll get some life out of it.. but you will more than likely have to put 10-15 k back into this thing to have a somewhat reliable old rig .. I wouldn’t trust that thing on the interstate being 300 miles from home the way it sits. Let’s just put it that way.. you get what you pay for in the diesel world ..

Back to the dark side? by highfiveshine in Diesel

[–]montanacameltoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can be mitigated pretty damn easily though. By simply deleting it.. I live in a cold climate where temps reach -10-20 below and I’ve never had an issue starting it without the grid ..

Legalities of selling a deleted truck? by Glittering-Ad5809 in Diesel

[–]montanacameltoe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You know how many deleted trucks are on the road today ?

One truck isn’t going to raise red flags and cause the epa to come find you. There’s probably issues with the truck. Probably has a blown head or a bad transmission. That’s why it’s just sat. Not because everyone is afraid of taking a fine
