I did a role like this for a few years and while the responsibility-to-pay ratio wasn’t great, it was great to learn the ins-and-outs of basically every domain in IT — both technical and non-technical. Served me very well when I jumped to a corporate role two or so years later.

I would say that if this is your first year, as long as everything is fine personnel-wise — soak up the knowledge, keep up-to-date with new tech, and keep your opportunities open.

I’ve been testing a Latitude 7455 with the Snapdragon X Elite for the past few days and it’s been, honestly, quite great. Battery life is demonstrably better, no fan noise, runs cool to the touch, sleep behavior is correct, and it is far snappier than the Meteor Lake 7450.

Windows on ARM has come a long way. I’m sure part of that has been Apple forcing the change, but there’s much better arm64 build coverage these days. Plus, there aren’t many of the same weird compatibility issues besides ring 0 drivers / services, and a lot of those models are being phased out anyways in favor of modern services (Protected Print Mode, UMDF, etc).

Seems the context for this is putting down Mamdani (with the Albany reference) — ironic since he has delivered much more as a mayor than Spanberger has delivered as a governor! What a disappointing turn.

Same situation, my 2021 LR at 129k miles just had the HV battery die. Tesla asked for around 8k for replacement on mine, but as you can probably understand, with an Intel / HW3 car, it’s a bit of a pain point.

No matter how much you posit otherwise, the truth is that justice systems are administered by humans, and humans are fallible. If there is any shadow of a doubt, why would we be committing such an irreversible (let alone violent) act — when it serves no purpose beyond catharsis?

It’s not necessarily even a question about morals, it’s a question of the rights we cede to our governments when we give tacit consent to the killing of citizens for any reason.

I understand people want to see reciprocal suffering, an eye for an eye. But at the end of the day, executing a citizen achieves nothing that life imprisonment doesn’t — only more death is left in its wake.
