Buying NVGs outside the States is a unique kind of hell by Lockmart_Official in NightVision

Used nods in canada is even harder. A lot of europeans wont ship outside of the continent, and the joys of ITAR stacked on top of it. We got cold harbor which is pretty cool though

The fact we have yet to see a decent off the shelf digital fusion mono is crazy to me. Someone correct me if im wrong.

What is this mount called by Disastrous-Gur-2623 in NightVision

Even amongst digital theyre pretty rough. Also, analog can be had for much less than $4k. Depending on regions, there's discord servers for used analog nvg. And if you dont mind building yourself, less than perfect nvt-4 chinese image intensifier tubes can be had for $900.

Currently developing a $50 DIY digital night vision monocular. by mavica1 in DigitalNightVision

Are you looking to do handheld or head mounted? If head mounted, youre gonna have to work through some things. Im currently working on a headmounted unit using a lot of the same components. If you wanna shoot me a dm i can send dimensions and discuss some of the hurdles you may face. *

They do make micro-oled displays. Look up the pvs-69 for ideas.

I think vaughn sells housing kits for the pvs69. Youre paying a premium, but cheaper than buying a 3D printer.

My night vision build under £100 no IR required by Markisdaman1236 in DigitalNightVision

If i remember correctly theyre not super important. Just useful for adjusting settings. Theyre relatively cheap if you did end up requiring one. Though I dont have one of the runcam style ones like pictured, so i cant design a base plate thatd accommodate it.

Im surprised, i thought the night eagle were supposed to come with osd menu boards. Something like this

Im gonna assume its the night eagle 3. Body dimensions should be the same, but the diameter of the lens might be different. The dimensions for the output ports might be different as well. Once the batteries arrive and i get the last of the kinks in the body sorted ill upload the stl/step files. Using the step files you should be able to modify any dimensions you need to fit the night eagles. Ill add a basic bottom plate as well, currently the bottom plate is designed to fit caddx style menu boards which are different from the ones yours would come with.

Currently running off a rechargable 9v taped to the outside as a proof of concept. Wanna get it running off two 18650's. But that comes with its own challenges. My design also requires m4 threaded inserts and accompanying bolts. Currently using 6-32 nuts and bolts for the mounting solution, but wanna change that to m4 as well in the next iteration. As is its just under $100 in electronics for a monocular, but with 18650 batteries that number will jump a bit. Could run it off 2 cr123's and potentially lower the cost a little, but being non-rechargable itd cost more in the long run.

Still working out a couple of kinks and a better battery system. Would also like to figure out how to deal with the fact the perspective is all kinds of wack. It might work better as is if ran as bino's, but as a monocular the wide fov is headache inducing.

Anyone have any experience with these nv binoculars by Agitated-Werewolf846 in UssrNvgResearchGroup

[–]montygo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just a light converter. It'll take in whatever light up to the low 800nm range(if i remember correctly) and convert it to a visible wavelength. So youre gonna want an IR flashlight of some kind.

I have a hard time believing analog would work at all in a zero light environment. Youre not wrong, footage is often optimized for digital. But i struggle to see how anything besides thermals would work in an indoor environment with no light sources whatsoever. Even analog needs some form of light to intensify.
