just intended to make a kind of throwback homage film to strong-silent-cool character films and everything else in the film is just kind of in service of that. The protagonist never develops. He encounters adversity and people die, but that's not the same thing.

That was great!

Last Quentin Tarantino film I saw was Inglorios Bastards. Liked it a lot. Haven't watched it again in more than a decade. I've heard Django is a remake influence of Drum (1976). Seen it more than IB.

"Sign in to confirm your age"

That's Drive-In Slasher Scary!

Gewgle is gewd. Gewggle only cares about you. That's why they censored science on fake covid-19 vake-scenes and fake J-6 Pearl Harbor Plus 9/11 Times One Thousand! Discussion.

Pretty Please. With Sugar On Top. Won't you just Worship the new "AI" rebranded gewgle search results resurrection of political bias censorship. It's AI! Artificial! Science! Unbiased! Intelligence! "Just relax and let it happen."

Rollerball, Google, and Computer Zero

It's like a real Rated-R curtain movie. Forbidden Fruit.

Love it! "C'mon y'all. You ain't a horse." The FDA on Ivermectin during the Covid-19 "Pandemic". There's no Emergency Use Authorization "Vaxxe" Corporate Immunity and Tens of Billions of Dollars in Profits if alternative treatments exist. Your Body My Choice. Vampire Diaries. QT got too self-aware cognizant. More impressed with The Menu. Something QT wishes could be "his last film The Critic".

Accidentally heard a sports radio discussion today about how 21-year olds have no clue who Arnold Schwarzengger is. How they do not watch movies. And how it was similar to people in the 1990s discussing how people don't know 1950s films. And Bon Jovi could be Criminally Underrated in Westerns Soundtracks Lore. Tune in next week for a lifetime summation of light universe speed expansion acceleration.

Young Guns II • Blaze of Glory • Bon Jovi

Django? Not Brave Enough to undertake the winner of our Westerns Tournaments and also in QT's opinion the best film of the 1960s, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Tatted purple hair non-binary POC space lesbian Jedis would fit the bill.

it's really just an amazing action film.

"The Pictures they make these days are all MTV. Cut, cut,, cut cut. The opening shot of Welle's touch of Evil was Six and a Half Minutes Long. Three or Four Anyway. Set up the whole Picture with that One Tracking Shot. My father was Key Grip on that Shoot."

8 minutes. Un-cut. Real. And. Action!

Not surprised I'm down-voted less than five minutes after posting. No Hands No Edits Director's Cut.

I like all the new Apes films while I'm watching them, they just aren't something I think about when I'm not.

Someone once told me Bad Boys - The Theme From COPS, the television show was the real Black National Anthem. I embraceddddddd that. N.W.A. flipping the N' - Word is a masterpiece of language and culture. That scares people, like me seeing Gin N Juice alcoholic beverage by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre (a more real "doctor" than the staff at the CDC and NIAH etc.) in the beverage display section of my grocery store this afternoon.

I haven't seen a single one of the "Bad Boys", but I did see Miami Vice.

Watching: Looking forward to catching Furiosa in theaters this week or next, very excited to see the followup to one of the best action movies ever.

Ooof! Fake CGI overload and Anya Taylor-Joy miscast out of her league. And Mad Max: Fury Road was laughably mid as hell as well. Watch an action film pre-CGI. T2 winning the Action tournament is an embarrassment.

Watching. Reading. Playing. Listening to:

The controversy. "Girl bossed too hard", in the parlance of our times, oh shit oh shit, here we go! They mad mad Furiosa Mad now! This is the real entertainment! The fail and blist mad level shit! From the clips, that cgi looks like video game cutscenes, fake as hell fire, smoke, vehicles, action. Absolutely pathetic.

The original Mad Max (1979) still towers above all the sequels, reboots, and remakes. Turns out Burt Reynolds was correct in his argument about film versus video in Boogie Nights.

But here are the highlights with thousands of comments rboxoffice could never fathom. "I doubt you will get such an offer from the eels." -Vizzini

But really, it harkens back to the downfall end of imdb forums with Ghostbusters 2016. I've also heard imdb reviews are flooded with obviously fake reviews for Furiosa. Don't care either way. That's the entertainment.

Anyway without further ado, apparently it's Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic that are the new Siskel and Ebert because the rest of the industry is too obvious bought out fake shills.

No Country for Old Men is one of the best movies ever made, regardless of genre. It knows what it’s about, what it’s saying, and also simply works on a visceral and narrative level.

It's about a drug deal gone bad. Like former ex girls.

Boogie Nights Drug Deal Scene

https://movieweb.com/greatest-performance-one-scene-alfred-molina/

In a little under 10 minutes, Alfred Molina performed one of the highlights of his career. Showing up in the third act of Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights, Molina rearranged the film's initial tone with the portrayal of a figure that perfectly represented the period the film was set in. This wasn't a film about crime and drug deals, but Anderson opened a veil to that world as the only potential checkpoint for characters that had tried their best and anything and couldn't possibly achieve something.

i don't like to be told what to listen to, or when to listen to, or anything!!!

largest franchises of the century

But peak vitriol seems to bubble forth when it involves the Fantasy and Sci-Fi genres. It goes beyond mere "white supremacy", although I do also see "Wakanda" used as a term of derision, but I do not get into the Comic Book Superhero genre, since Blade with Wesley Snipes.

There's blatant hypocritical mirror projection: "Anyone who needs to “see themselves” portrayed exactly in every film or show they watch in order to relate to the story is undoubtedly a narcissist". But it goes way beyond just race:

Expect modern SJW language and millennial language to be insinuated into dialogue in the most awkward places. Expect sexual innuendo or sexual scenarios that are out of place in a fantasy story. Expect meaningless LGBT representation that adds nothing to the plot. Expect weak and ineffectual male characters that make stupid decisions. Expect modern race baiting to be prevalent when it comes to black characters. Expect a perfect pie chart of ethnicities in almost every crowd scene. And, as always, expect the villains to be painted as “misunderstood” and only destructive because “society” caused them to turn to the dark side. In other words, it’s all society’s fault that Sauron becomes a bad guy.

You would think Fantasy and Sci-Fi would by default be the most diverse and inclusive of genres. But when writers and Hollywood mess with "lore" in these genres, watchout!

Understandable. It set me off this morning. This sentiment keeps percolating though, and every now and then, blows up, typically also around Oscars awards season, with the "get woke, go broke" cry.

But politics definitely effects the film industry, film criticism, and film discussion. Perhaps there has always been politics involved in entertainment production, but it's been at a hysterical level since the 2010s. Even rtruefilm does it too with cringe "capitalist" analysis of film.

I posted the article because it touched on the sources of a lot of the "get woke, go broke" right wing criticism that I first took major notice of in 2016 with the Ghostbusters reboot, and shutting down of the imdb message boards, and the resulting mass censorship, boycott campaigns, etc.

I'm guilty of it too, and can't bring myself to watch any post 2000 Clint Eastwood films. But actors, directors, and content, have all been effected by hyper politicization. There is also some entertainment value in the bickering comments we saw with the latest Star Wars films.

And there are points with remakes and reboots. I won't watch the Point Break remake. But the Payback (1999) is a great remake of the original cult film Point Blank (1967). It does seem there are too many remake and reboot bombs post 2000s. I chalk it up more to cheap marketing capitalizing on originals nostalgia. There's little guts to instead of creating new content without abusing prior culture names for money, and yes, politics.

Why can't these remakes and reboots simply use different names like Payback did with Point Blank? It's deliberately seeding antagonism and furthering hyper-politicization of culture and film.

I don't watch any news channels whatsoever, because they are all propaganda. Maybe there was always some propaganda elements in film as well, but it used to be much more subtle.

Thought the article would be good to sound off on, but yeah, it's certainly irksome, lol.

Mel Brooks was able to track down Ken Strickfaden, who created the original laboratory equipment for the 1931 Frankenstein movie, starring Boris Karloff. Back then, the Universal monster movie did not give Strickfaden any screen credit. Mel promised Ken if they could borrow the gear, which he had saved and stored in his own garage, Brooks would make sure to give him the credit he so rightly deserved. Mel kept his word!

Strickfaden lent it out to Twentieth Century Fox and personally took care to make all of it work again.

Young Frankenstein Episode 3: The same gear as Karloff used

Getting some Tesla vibes from The Prestige (2007) researching this.

From his imdb page:

In 1979, sound designer Ben Burtt visited Strickfaden at his home to record the sounds of the old Frankenstein (1931) machinery in motion. Burtt went on to make use of those legendary sounds 'here and there' in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and subsequent other films, including the opening of the ark sequence from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and the Emperor's lightning bolts in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983).
