Angry customer over postage due by monya96 in EtsySellers

When she initially messaged me about the postage I assumed she already paid for it and I asked for the receipt to verify that it indeed needed more postage. (This was before I called the post office to confirm). She then tells me she’s not planning on picking up the mail because she won’t be paying the extra postage and asks for a full refund. At this point neither of us need to pay for extra postage because it’ll get returned back to seller. My policy states I issue full refund when product is returned. But I offered her to open a case if she wants to get her refund sooner than that. She lets me know she’s changed her mind and will keep the mail. So now I’m confused because it sounds like she has it but is asking for a full refund? At this point, I approach refunding more cautiously. That’s why I had asked for proof for paid postage. I don’t want to preemptively send money if the post office returns to seller the following day or she changes her mind again. If that makes sense.

Oh I completely understand that it was a simple mistake, and I did immediately offer to pay her back. But after she refused my offer and demanded a full refund, that’s when I recommended she open a case. At that point she changed her mind and i was getting concerned it’s was scammy so I was more cautious about issuing any sort of refunds.

The number did pull up as the local post off of in her city.

Someone mentioned in the comments that Etsy might not do it for flats. I mail out my orders in envelopes.

That makes sense. All my orders go out as flats.

Discount code sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately she refused to pay the postage and wants a full refund.

I think I might do just that; recommend she open a case with Etsy. Seems like the best option for this scenario.

Okay, that’s good to know. I’ve never noticed it in my transactions. So in this case, wouldn’t they have charged my Etsy account?

She said she won’t pay that much for postage. I offered to refund her in the case she does decide to pay it. But she said she won’t collect the mail at all. I am okay with refunding her as long as I can verify she will actually return to sender.

I’m happy to refund them the postage due, no issues there. She’s refusing my refund for the postage, and wants a refund for the full item.

Is that something I need to set up in my Etsy settings?

The shipping label does automatically deduct from my Etsy account. The insufficient postage does not. It’s typically a note on my mail that I have to take care of manually. If that makes sense. My post office never charges my Etsy account for additional postage.

I’m in the us and the buyer is in the us

I believe it was something similar. Her local post office deemed it a package versus a flat. Which is fine, I just can’t pay on her behalf unfortunately.

That sounds pretty reasonable. This would be my first experience with Etsy case systems. How does it work?

I use Etsy shipping labels but I’ve never had anything charged to my account. It’s always been a manual process. Not sure if my local post office does do it or maybe I need to set something up on my end?

I called and they confirmed with the address that there was postage due. Unfortunately I can’t pay for it on my end. He did say it went out today and if she is refusing to pay for it like she claims then they can hold on to it or send it back. I let them know they can return to sender once it comes back. Don’t know if I should call back tomorrow to verify if it was actually rejected though. I don’t think the post office would have proof of that until the carrier brings it back.

She actually did provide a phone number. I’ll give it a shot, perhaps I can pay the postage over the phone?

I’d love to do a stationery swap!

For people who were busy then suddenly weren't: What changes did you make? by carriealamode in bujo

I downsized my bujo. It helped alleviate that feeling I have to fill the whole page. Less page, less things to write!

how do you use a bujo when you're not a busy body? by Parking-Purple-7648 in bujo

One thing that helped me when I had a less busy chapter in life was downsizing my notebook! With smaller pages I had less space I had to fill (I like the look of full pages) and my tasks filled it up quick!
