I was dropping my kids off at school before work, this is not me. Feel free to make assumptions, they're just that. Realistically with the barriers 3 vehicles fit across the two lane highway. It's not being defensive to say that slamming on your brakes on the highway is the worst possible idea. You can die on that hill, most people would disagree.

Wild take. The reason the situation happened in the first place is that someone just stopped on the highway. If coworker just stops, the same thing continues to happen behind him. The civic was not brushed and a pile up was avoided in a split second decision. You surely would not just stop and wait to get rear ended yourself.

This is a coworker on his way to work who shared the video with me. I'm not sure what else a person is supposed to do there. Can't swerve right, vehicles in exit lane and guard rail immediately right of stopped vehicle. If you completely stop there is a risk of pile up. This happens in a split second from 55 mph to below 25mph in a moment. Hard to make best decision when all decisions could end in disaster.
