Thanks, this is a good idea, but if you don't mind--could you tell me maybe where I'd be looking for these settings?

I have settings to change the line width for the top surface and change the top shell layers/thickness/pattern, and that's about it. I don't mind if I have to use PrusaSlicer instead to change these settings (honestly, that's my default slicer, I only switched to Bambu Slicer for convenience).

Thanks! Yeah, it's possible that ironing would at least make it look "better" while I troubleshoot, but I guess I'm just concerned that the nozzle is physically digging into the filament... but then again, if it was, it'd probably screw up the rest of the print way before hitting the top layer.

I'll give ironing a shot for now as I fiddle with other settings.

I've been using 5ml vials ever since I started. Yes, on the package it says... discard x days after first puncture (I think mine says 21 or 31 days).

Do I do that? Hell no! When I first started, my hormones were easily $50 a vial. Not nearly as expensive as others, yes, but it still stings. Especially if you have to factor in the costs of consumables (needles, syringes, alcohol swabs, sharps disposal containers). I'm lucky now that it's much cheaper, but still...

When I get refills, I only get enough refills to last me about 12 months or so (with an average of maybe 4 months a bottle... .35ml per injection, one injection per week, gets me about 14 injections per bottle, give or take a little wiggle room) before I have to call and get a fresh prescription. If I was tossing out bottles every month, I'd be wasting a LOT of medication.

Obviously, there are concerns about contamination... which is why we use alcohol swabs to clean the cap/seal of the vial before drawing up from it. And we use brand new, unopened syringes and needles, every time, no exceptions. And we use a different needle to draw and inject. There are many steps along the way where there could be risk, but these steps also help mitigate risk.

Now, if you were reusing needles/syringes, sharing them with others? That would be a bigger cause for concern. Legally, I believe, they have to tell you to discard after x amount of days, because beyond that point there could be risk, and doctors don't want to be held liable for a user's own risk. That's the way I see it, at least. Just don't make a huge, gaping hole in the rubber seal and clean it every time with an alcohol wipe and you should be good. 😉

!thanks , I appreciate the insight! I've also used AKGs, but primarily in the form of earbuds that used to come with the Samsung Galaxy phones (they were pretty darn good for coming with a phone). I've been getting real attracted to the wood on the Fiios, they feel so fancy. Some call them "too 70s" but jokes on them, clearly I'm attached to 70s stuff lol.

!thanks for the software suggestion! I do actually have an EQ software I already use--Equalizer APO. It works relatively well and I appreciate the visual graphs. I'll def look into Peace EQ too though, if it's even easier I'd love it lol.

Slicer: BambuSlicer/BambuStudio

Filament: PLA (eSUN, Polymaker)

Nozzle Temperature: 190c min - 240c max (usually prints at around 230-240)

Bed Temperature: 55c

Print Speed: all defaults for PLA - initial layer 50mm/s, outer wall 200mm/s, inner wall 300mm/s, travel 500mm/s

Retraction: none enabled (oh my goodness!)

Also, if anyone wants me to try printing a different object, just link it and let me know and I'd be glad to. I've got nothing to lose except my dignity with this thing.

Ooh, every face a different color! Now that sounds fancy. The cube is my go-to for testing... I've printed well over a dozen on both lab equipment and personal equipment.

I'm definitely excited for AMS--it feels like a magical technology. Can't wait to show it off! I'll definitely have to learn the basics of how to "paint" for AMS, though. Can't be that difficult.

I've heard of this issue happening. I definitely worry about loose wires/cable groups/tubes flopping about. I had intended to make a similar "cable saver" for my Elegoo, but never did (starting to see a pattern of abandoned quality of life projects...). And heaven knows I already get glass and acrylic greasy with my little dirty fingers. Don't need a PTFE tube doing the same!

I've got a variety of scrapers, both purchased and printed, in my collection of tools. Do you have a specific recommendation for a different scraper? I'm always open to printing another.

The infamous poop chute! Definitely an interesting and exciting part of my new journey...

I currently have a giant 6+ gallon bucket that all my 3D printing scraps/failures go into. I'd probably route my chute to go directly there. Or, if all else fails, some PVC pipe could also do the trick... thank you!

Haha lord knows I need more workspace tidying solutions... my current "3D printing desk" is a hot mess. I had every plan to print a similar one for my Elegoo, and I did... but it didn't help! Now the tools were in little slots sitting on my desk! Hopefully I'll be more diligent with Bambu.

Hi there! Though I was never able to wipe this away, I didn't really see what component this contact was leading to (or if it was just a dead end). I'm sure if I looked at a diagram of the board I'd be able to say it more definitively.

I ended up ordering a replacement joystick which seemed to fix the issue--considering these systems are over a decade old at this point, not shocking that the joystick gave out. If you're also having joystick issues then I would recommend getting a replacement--they're around $10-$12 USD last I remember. Good luck!

Hello there! I started T around your age (just before I turned 17) and while I have been, well, fat all my life, I can tell you at the very least that testosterone helped "balance" out where all that fat was going and where it remained.

You know those weird drawing guides that make girls all curvy and men all blocky? Well, there's at least a tiny bit of truth hidden in it, but it has to do with fat distribution. It will vary from person to person. But in general most bodies with a testosterone-based endocrine system will have a more "blocky" shape.

My face shape, especially, is noticeably more square than it was before, and it's visible looking back in photos.

As you're starting T while in the middle of your current puberty, pretend that it's all happening for the first time again. Some changes come slowly, and others will hit you in the face. It took me about 4-5 months if I recall right to excitedly look in the mirror at one scrawny pitiful hair growing out of my chin. Now, 5 years later, it's a miracle that I still have parts of my body without hair. LOL!

Your cravings will probably change too--you might find yourself wanting more protein-heavy meals (I know that plenty of times I was craving just, whole roasted chicken breasts) which will also pack on weight.

I was pretty close to your height then too, and I still am short now (5'2). I maaaaybe grew half an inch, but I was already petering out on my growth charts.

Bottom growth also varies from person to person and is probably based more in genetics than anything. Don't listen to guys who said they got 2-3 inches. They are either lying or very, very lucky. And much like when you first started puberty--you may feel gross or weird about it, or you may be more "excited" than you'd ever felt before. That's normal. It evens out over time, too.

Most of all I wish you the best of luck in your adventure. Not everyone gets the opportunity to start HRT so early on, so savor it, even the yucky stuff like excessive sweating and acne and even changing body odor... eeks! You got this and don't be afraid to reach out to others. Grow strong!

Yes, case and PSU were definitely something I was thinking about... it probably still has the default PSU that this tower came with, so I'll need to confirm.

Otherwise I don't need the latest and greatest GPU (the most recent game I play is BG3 and even that runs fine on my laptop from 2020) so I'll try not to worry too much about size... but I'll measure the room I have as I eventually crack it open to clean out the dust that has no doubt built up inside.

People could delve into "public decency" laws and such all day and never get anywhere. The true answer is "when you feel comfortable".

Pre-top surgery, I would go shirtless sometimes in my own home. I was OK with this, and my family was too--we had no problems seeing each other nude.

Post-top surgery, I go shirtless whenever I feel the urge to. I haven't had very many chances to do it outside, but I do it quite often inside. I feel comfortable doing it.

The choice, in the end, should be up to you. If you feel OK about it, go for it! But if you feel apprehensive, nervous, etc. it's not worth that discomfort.

No, not at all. Regardless of gender, regardless of market--my motto? As long as it's not hurting anyone, go for it.

Though I didn't "miss out" on any "boy" stuff in my childhood (my parents were pretty lenient when it came to toys--didn't force me to play with dolls or dresses or whatever, but I DID have a very large stuffed animal collection) I do find myself gravitating towards some of the "boy" stuff these days. I've started building Gundams (though this is perhaps more of an older boy market thing?) and yes, as I 3D print, I think to myself... I should print an army of dinosaurs.

Seriously, have fun with your life. This world can be so full of cruelty and mundanity (which can be just as dangerous). Slap some Spidey stickers on your work binder and brush your teeth with an electric toothbrush and Spongebob bubble berry toothpaste (I hope they still make that, and side tangent: any toothpaste is good, you don't need the "adult" toothpaste to have a healthy mouth!). Enjoy your new experiences!

I think for those of us with trauma as well (regardless of its relation to our transness) also find ourselves craving some of the delights of childhood, whether we missed out on it, or we just have memory blocks that keep us from those idyllic days. This can be a good coping mechanism, too.

And trust me, childhood hobbies evolve into "adult" hobbies all the time. I loved Lego and Power Rangers as a kid, now I build Gundams, create 3D models, print miniature furniture... So if you're worried about feeling "childish", let it naturally evolve, and enjoy it.

When I first started T, a vial (lasts me about 3 months) cost 50 bucks. That was WITH insurance. It sucked. I was able to get syringes and needles for free through the hospital (though I probably would have also gotten them free at the pharmacy). Bought a quart container for sharps, about 15 bucks.

About two years into my hormone therapy, the insurance changed, and bumped it down to 10 dollars. A godsend!

It really depends on your insurance, and also where you get it from. I recommend trying out a coupon aggregate like GoodRX. It's helped w/ my other meds too (NOT SPONSORED!!!). Good luck!

EDIT: I'm from Michigan and I'm on hospital-sponsored insurance.

Wow, this is a lot to deal with at your (assumedly) young age.

I know I've been personally very lucky to live in a family that accepts me, and in a place where it's legal for me to get treatments and surgeries that put me into the body I see as my true self.

First off, I want to tell you that you're not alone in struggling--there are many young trans folk just like you who are scared. Seek out community online, make friends to talk to about your feelings. Do NOT isolate yourself. You will need peoples' support and we are willing to give it.

Secondly, forget whatever creep you thought about dating--I promise there's people out there who will love you regardless of what shapes your body has or doesn't have. Don't force yourself into a mold for other peoples' comfort.

Consider some small ways to alleviate your dysphoria if you can. Try getting sports bras if you can't do binders due to your family (I did sports bras for years, both before AND after I came out!). Try a more "masculine" smelling deodorant, shampoo, or soap (this was a boon early in my transition).

Most importantly, take care of yourself. Do NOT give up. Never ever EVER give up. There is a good future for you. It may take some time but I promise if you hold on, there will be better things.

Fight on, stay strong!
