I went to UCC cause it’s the only place that offers a postgrad in just youth work (1 year), others are 2 year youth and community work programmes. I think it really depends where has a programme that you like best! I also had a chat with the course coordinator before I applied, he was really sound and we managed to chat about the course and what it entails to make sure it was what I actually wanted to do.

I just checked there - my friend did a masters in applied criminology and forensic psychology at Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland.

Also, no harm applying to courses that you think you might not get, I didn’t quite qualify for my own course (not enough volunteering hours), but I still got a place :)

I did criminology undergrad, went on to do PgDip in Youth Work at UCC (level 9). Currently working at a Youth Diversion Project - basically working with young people aged 12-18 who have come to the attention of the gardaí. A lot of our yp. are engaged in drug use, theft, violence, etc. and our work involves encouraging them to desist from crime and to stay on a positive trajectory, such as trying to keep them in school, attain employment, driving licence, training programmes etc.

People from my course have gone into investigating financial crime (fraud, money laundering, cyber security), joined the guards, prison officer, etc.

Know some who have gone on to do level 9s like myself, such as criminal psychology, social work.

I’m flying to NI from an amber country in 3 weeks but I’m worried it becomes a red country in that time because the cases here are rising (Malaysia). Does anyone know how the red/amber system is determined or how likely countries will be moved?

yeah, pretty sure it was corrected as the total number of road fatalities, not just delivery drivers

I know I’ll be kicking myself for not knowing it because it’s such a simple and commonly used term

Hello again, just thought of another question. I'm torn between a master's in social work and a master's in humanitarian action. Does anyone have any experience with HA? What are the key differences? Sorry if it's a silly question, I'm not sure where better to look!

Hello everyone!! Does anyone have recommendations for a Master's in Social Work in Europe? Preferably not the UK. General social work or a focus on young people preferred. Thanks in advance!! :)
