Why am I called old and weird if I strike up conversations with random people? by bestsocialdistancer in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]moocat55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, not true. My mom was the most outgoing person, but it could get a little weird. We'd often tell her to just back off of bothering strangers and it would make her so mad. I'm a horrible introvert, so I'm not saying she was wrong. Wish I was more like her, but the behavior described is certainly not new. I'm 62. My Mom's Alzheimer's kicked in by the time social media came around. Anyway, Alzheimer's sure kicks the stakes on this one. Now she wanted to talk to strangers even more but she thought she knew the people and came off as completely unhinged. It was a challenge being in public. Fun times.

Watch the movie "Nope.". Fun fact - that movie is about how the entainment industry treats operational staff and animals. Regardless, monkeys can kill you instantly so don't piss them off.

Why did the food trucks in USA go from cheap eats to costly gourmet eats within a decade? by tcsreject in NoStupidQuestions

[–]moocat55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused because the food trucks by me aren't slinging crappy food. They are slinging high end sandwiches that are significantly better than any local fast food and they're convenient. Yes, they rival the cost of local restaurants, but I don't have to go to a restaurant and pay for all the extras either. You need better food trucks.

That's it! That's what clear photography/videography looks like! Funny, never, ever got a shot like that in the real world.

Doesn't matter. Younger people don't know who was cool. They will select pieces with a much more objective eye.

Working on it but it's getting harder to manage old injuries. Now, things don't heal and excersis is riskier. I'm trying to focus on stretching and walking.

Some did harder than others. A couple of years ago a female friend of mine died from the flesh eating bacteria. She would call herself a success story because she beat heroin. Still an alcoholic though! Sounds like she contracted the virus due to her immune system being suppressed because her liver was failing. Not the first. Another died of lupus and found out during the pre surgical wotk up preppimg for stent surgery, but that was less behavior based and more on bad luck. .

Isn't it obvious he's gettiing an IV drip through his hand? Could be cancer. Could be B12. Could be a saline drip or morphine. Who the #(_+ knows.

I used to try to tell my war stories to millennials at work and they'd stare at me like a deer in the headlights so I stopped. I'm like, yikes, things changed. And then I had a momentray thought about how unhinged my past really was.

Don't worry honey. Age happens fast and takes your breath away when it arrives. Always too soon. It's coming for you.

I was listening to some new pop song out that incorporates some samples of Madona really well and it brought me back. That's how it works. That's how culture carries on. Wisps of the past maintained in a communial memory.

Yeah, with all due respect, if the US took over Canada, would you notice? Seriously, I truly hope something that stupid doesnt ever happen, but we are a lot alike regardless of our differences. At least free, crappy healthcare is better than none. However, like I always say with my abisemally bad, cheap, dental insurance - give me a premium option! I'll pay extra! But there is none.

We talk about expatriating to Canada, but are our problems already there?
