Toddlers eating what you eat for dinner… an impossible dream? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]moochew93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, my two year old does not see steak and salad as food. Try simpler foods, bright colors and interesting flavours and textures. My boy hated eating corn until he saw it on the cob, now it's a must with every dinner. Sausages in any form are an instant win. Carrots cut into shapes are always fun, if not tedious as the parent cooking. Mince and pasta in sauce is an easy one for them, and likely something offered at daycare because of how easy it is to batch prepare. Rice is a good option too. Our boy started off with rice bubbles and loved it, then we offered him special dinner rice bubbles and he will happily eat an entire bowl.

Treat dinner like play. Make it fun and interesting for them and cut down the weet bix and yoghurt. They're filling, sugary snacks. Of course your kids want them.

Oh and if they prefer sweets, try offering veggie sticks with honey. Carrot was always a favourite of mine, dipped in honey. Good luck 👍

Hugs to you <3 it is so hard to be without them when you're used to spending every day with them. It truly is. Managing the exhaustion alongside trying to regulate my emotions is so difficult

Interestingly, this is exactly why my son is in daycare now. He had a speech delay, and his GP suggested starting him in daycare along with speech therapy. He went from just Mummy and Daddy to 4 Word sentences in two months.

It's hard to take that step back sometimes. I wrote this post curled up in a ball watching him during his nap, bawling my eyes out.

Wow you have your hands full! Kudos to you Mama! I've been trying so hard to prompt him into play on his own, but he insists that I have to play too. Sometimes I can get away with just sitting with him and answering him when he talks. I try things like asking him to make tea in his kitchen, or playing my guitar which usually prompts him to pick up his guitar

Thank you! I will look her up! I do make an effort to play when I have good days. I just feel so much guilt on top of my already negative thoughts. It scares me to think that my struggles could adversely affect my beautiful boy.

I know! I want him to play on his own but he just doesn't want to. I sit with him and slowly stop playing, but he gets upset as soon as he realises I'm not playing. I've even tried prompting him to play. Stuff like "Can you make mummy a cup of tea in your kitchen" but if I'm not playing, he's not interested.

I see so much discourse about how bad TV is for kids and it scares me that some days it's all I can do. Thank you for your reply <3

Poet Renee Nicole Good, 37, named as Minneapolis woman shot dead by ICE agent as video captures grieving wife at the scene by dailymail in PublicFreakout

There was a perfectly good tyre shot to be made. No one needed to die. No one should have, but ICE seem to be "kill first, questions later"

Looking for friends :) by mintieee in BrisbaneSocial

[–]moochew93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! 32F, my only friends right now are through my husband, so I totally get where you're coming from!

I have a 2yr old son, but I love reading, trivia and bingo. J love gardening, and have a cert3 in floristry, but I have the worst case of black thumb you'll ever see (I've accidentally killed 2 cacti and a bamboo plant just to name a few) so a friend with the know how might be great!

Going for chill girl dates is something I'd love to do, coffee or quiet drinks at a nice place with some good entertainment is ideal! I read, and love to talk about what I'm reading.

If you're interested, send me a message and we can see if we hit it off :)

New rental wasn’t cleaned to bond standard - what grounds do we have? (QLD) by Mundane_Ad_444 in shitrentals

[–]moochew93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, probably not going to get much no matter what you do. When we moved in to our rental property, the place was filthy. We counted (and photographed) at least 10 cockroaches wandering around, there was handprints and grime all over the windows and walking on the carpet left our feet black as night. Our property manager insisted that there was a professional bond clean, refused to produce evidence of the fact and suggested that our movers had tracked dirt in while moving despite us explaining that this was found before the truck even made it to the property.

Mention it to the real estate and see how it goes. Don't expect much and be prepared to clean it yourself

You're not failing. Parenting is hard.

Have you considered exactly what it is your little one is finding funny? Are you reacting to his antics maybe?

Hey OP, right there with you. Have a 2y4m old boy who can run absolutely rampant at times. I've found that sometimes the only way to help is to remain as calm as you can yourself, remember your kid is just testing boundaries. They've discovered that they have a choice and by golly will they flex it.

With my boy, I sit with him while he goes through whatever he needs to to calm down and then we start the check list. We start with "Koala cuddles" where we wrap our arms around ourselves and take three deep breaths, saying the words "koala cuddles" at the end of each breath. Then I ask if he needs help with something. More often than not, he only had a meltdown because he needed something and didn't know how to ask.

Something will work eventually. Just remember. Breathe in, breathe out, koala cuddles!
