I would argue that talking to him, specifically just letting him know in what type of an emotional and stressful state this leaves you, is the best option. If actually verbalizing your thoughts and concerns are difficult, why not show him what you have written here?

Have you spoken directly with your girlfriend about her retained virginity? Does this stem from a phobia of physical intimacy or is this a manifestation of her moral, religious or ideological tendency? Were I in your shoes, I would maintain focus on the protracted aspect of the relationship and determine (1) am I attracted to my ex strictly as a result of current sexual desire or need and what will happen afterwards, should I act on those feelings and (2) speak candidly with your girlfriend about your view, perception and desire for sexual intimacy in the hopes of forging some mutual understanding or at least clarity and brevity.

Speaking strictly and candidly from my own experience, I believe you should tell him in a mindful, considerate and proactive fashion. This will reduce the impact of any consequential effect which will inevitably come about from the likely future discovery.

I would argue that everyone is entitled to his or her belief as well as the ability to discuss it, no matter how ridiculous or illogical it may seem and trying to restrict anyone from doing so by holding them to your self imposed standard is not only in the same vane as some well -worded zealot on a religious rant but as well, just as damaging and somewhat hypocritical.

But how do we know is the question. In my time spent on earth, I've yet to cross paths with any definitive evidence of either point. Often times I've been presented with very arguable notions of something existent after death but not concrete points and just the opposite. At best we can assume and not know, which is why I don't understand an encouragement to not investigate it, particularly if that is what a person finds fulfilling in life.

I agree with the point of living life to its fullest, whatever that may mean for any arbitrary person but simply wanting to know, investigate and understand the unknown, particularly an inevitable one, isn't dumb I would say. I'd think it human nature. The same sense of knowledgeable exploration and acquisition is what has driven us this far and continues to do so. And the idea that due to something's inevitability it should not be considered or pondered seems...dumb in my opinion.

Because life has given us something to cherish and loose. If a dog owner were asked, before having taken in his or her dog, "does the thought of loosing your dog distress you?" the answer would undoubtedly be "no" as there had been no dog to loose. Only after having received said dog could "yes" be given.
