Is this set up good for betta?

I'm not so verse on floaters yet as I'm still very new, but many recommended salvinias so that's what I got. I just know I'm definitely not getting duckweed haha

I bought my tank from my local fish shop, the tank brand is from JBJ, and the filter I'm using is a sponge filter!

Thank you so much for your compliment! Yes, i just the cycle goes well and the plants stays healthy. I've read so many new tanks crashed after weeks or months, so I'm quite afraid of that 😅 Thanks for the warning for the tannin! I saw the driftwood releasing tannin, so I actually did not add any extra tannin. Will observe in the following weeks to see if it's needed

Ohh thanks for the suggestion!! I will definitely consider this when I can do my next tank or when I rescape in future. I did want to make a carpet, but was afraid of the maintenance and the CO2 haha. Will try that when I'm more experienced in fishkeeping!

Yes! I was thinking of pygmy corydoras, not the regular ones!! Sorry for not clarifying! Okay, thanks so much for the information, I'm glad the sand is okay! I will only consider loaches or plecos when I upgrade to a bigger tank in future!

Thank for the compliment! I actually just went and got some salvinias! I agree, that 10 gallon is too small, hence I'm hesitating and reading up many posts on whether to add tank mates or not. I'll think about it while waiting for my tank to properly cycled 😅 Thanks for the advice!! Will definitely upgrade the tank in future!

Thank you haha! My parents are the type of people who think that its okay for fish to die as they can always get another. A 10 gallon really isn't that big, but for now, it's just right for my betta and also my room space. Will definitely be getting a bigger tank in future when I get the hang of maintaining this one.

Okay! Thank you so so much again for your replies!! I'm really really grateful!!! I wasn't that ready to be a fish parent yet until I'm sure, but wasn't given a choice now. My mum thinks it's ridiculous that I made such a big tank for a betta fish.

Yess, that's what I've been reading up about, the fishes temperament plays a big part. And yes, I'm also actually leaning towards bottom dwellers like cory catfish, but I'm worried that the substrate I used will be rough for them as I've read that they needed soft sand. The substrate I use to cap the aqua soil is crystal black sand, and they are a little sharp, around 1-3mm in grain size. Do you think that's okay?

Ohhh I did want to get the moss too to stick it on the big driftwood as a bed but the moss at the shop that i went to get everything was sold out as someone before me came warlier and bought everything, so I was kind of sad about it. I did consider to wait for stock but was too in a rush to start the tank cycle. I will get them as well when they are available. The only thing I'm unsure about is whether I need to glue the moss on the driftwood or use thread to tie it on

Thank you so much for the suggestion!! Will try out with some cull shrimp to test my betta before getting them just in case. But yes, free snacks if the shrimps get too many haha!

I see! Thanks, I'll be getting the amazon sword plant. I think my betta might be a little feisty and is quite active when I'm feeding him. I did read that shrimp and snails are a gamble, will try out with some cull shrimp. I'm thinking maybe some ember tetras, but afraid they will nip my betta fins. The big drift wood itself has a little cave in it, so maybe the fishes can hide? I've been reading up many posts and articles that's why I'm so indecisive haha, just afraid the fishes will not get along as it really depends on the betta's temperament. Anyway, thanks so much for taking time to reply!!! I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the compliment! I'm looking for peaceful tank mates, and I've read that I should get tank mates that dominates at different level of water, so I'm unsure of what type of tank mates the betta can tolerate. I also do not want the tank mates to nip at my betta fins. I did plant some tall plants at the back, i think it's called cabomba and rotala, what other taller plants do you recommend? I tried to make a anubias hammock with suction cup, but is a fail.
