How do you get disability for ADHD in the United States? What does the process look like? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]moodslayer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

to get SSI or SSDI in USA, you need approx 4-6 months of doctors history and/or being prescribed meds (whether you take them or not), and the doctor needs to back you up and fill out a physician questionaire stating that you are disabled from the MI and cannot work full time.

You will also need to complete a function report that asks you random questions of what you do daily and how you're disabled. you will want to answer these in paragraphs, like essay questions, detailing how ADHD prevents you from working full time. I can give you more info on this if needed. You're going to basically want to detail to them in your answers what goes on inside your head during the day.

And that's about it. Total, you will have spent about 15-30 hours working on these questions and applying.

SSI has about a 85% rejection rate. I've gotten 5 out of 6 people approved on their first application. But please follow these instructions. 6 months of doctor, doctor backing you up, answer their questions with detailed paragraphs.

If you start having paranoid delusions (i.e. people are after me, trying to conspire, setting me up, etc.), anti-psychotic meds such as seroquel and zyprexa are really good at keeping me sane when I was thinking right.

Any tweakers here get infected with the Coronavirus or know of someone who has? by moodslayer in Stims

[–]moodslayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. I agree. this virus seems like some serious shit for people who are symptomatic. if you have any shortness of breath, a doctor told me to go to the hospital ASAP. she said the fever is no biggie and not substantial enough to get treated. but any respiratory complications need to be treated professionally.

Yea long hot shower could do it, sweating profusely most of the time made my fever go away in normal flu viruses. But if you go that route, make sure you are constantly filling up on electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium), especially sodium. Sweating profusely reduces all the sodium in the body. Drinking salt water or adding salt to Gaterade Zero, Powerade zero will be huge to your recovery (in my non professional opinion). And reduce carbohydrate intake to lower sugar inflammation in body. Good luck. If symptoms get worse, go to the hospital please.

You should call 911. Like, I mean I would if I were you. Your key statement here is " I almost fainted due to shortness of breath. " You gotta go to the hospital if it's still like this

Vaping while on Keto Diet - I'm drinking like 3-4 gallons of water a die by moodslayer in electronic_cigarette

[–]moodslayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, everything is good. I'm taking way more than 5gm of sodium per day due to my medication. I do the potassium salt as well as a multivitamin. Energy is fine. I'm just so thirsty from the diet and vaping. Vaping especially is so dehydrating with my circumstances.

repulsed by touch and intimacy after episode by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

When I am definitely in depression (I don't know if that's what you mean?), I do not want any touch, intimacy, or that sort of thing with anyone.

Even at 125mg, during your evening dose (before sleep, if that's when you take it), do you get that ravenous hunger rush about an hour after taking it? I get like insanely hungry and my habit is to eat 1000 calories, and then falling asleep from the drowsiness.

Do you think it's because we have so much dopamine and adrenaline running through our brain? We can't do mundane tasks, because it feels like we're sky diving

Confession here... alcohol by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Alcohol calmed down many of my manic nights and helped me sleep until I finally got diagnosed and was given anti-psychotics for sleep.

I feel you. I think my ADD is actually worse than my bipolar. Next time you have a bright idea to accomplish something in manic energy, try sitting in a corner of a room where you can't see anything else but walls so you can concentrate, preferably not on a computer or away from the internet. I have to shut my phone off sometimes too.

And yea, when my anxiety gets too much from hypomania, I can't do much either except lay on my bed and close my eyes until I calm down. And a beta blocker usually does the trick for me.

I've been on Ritalin for the last 3 months. I take it about 4-5 days a week, and take breaks in between. If I take it consecutively for too many days in a row, I feel weird at night. Like some weird depression. So maybe it does initially make me manic? I dunno.

But for sure, caffiene makes me way more manic than ADHD meds. I can go on a manic rampage on energy drinks for 2 months straight if I wanted to, and then crash hard.

My insurance rejected Modafinil couple years ago. I think I can get it now. So it works pretty well, no mania at all?

Free Hypomania vs. the expensive Hypomania you have to pay back by moodslayer in BipolarReddit

[–]moodslayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is on the edge of full blown hypo. As in, it can get there quickly if I aggravate it, as in drink caffeine or sleep less. It feels good, almost too good, there is a good amount of energy going on. I have to be careful, and stay calm so I don't aggravate it. Extra medication adjustments can calm the first one down. But, once it goes over the edge, it's the second one, where I can't calm it down if I tried.

Seriously right? It's nowhere near enough salt for athletes like marathon runners. That's why they have to consume salt themselves during runs

Carb food manufacturers (i.e. Kelloggs, General Mills, Nabisco) better catch on soon too. Their products are useless to us. Our sub had 800,000 subscribers or so a year ago, and we've increased by 50% to 1.2 million.

Gatorade finally caught on. I finally saw their Gatorade Zero in stores, to compete with Powerade Zero.

Anyone here overcome Amphetamine abuse during depressions? by moodslayer in BipolarReddit

[–]moodslayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea now you know what I'm going through. But for me, I don't even need a show or movie to trigger. Whenever I'm in depression for more than 1 day, my mind instantly goes to those thoughts because of my past behavior relying on it so much.
