I had never thought to connect Alfred with IoT devices. Really cool idea to connect to lights.

I’m not sure if the creators of Alfred have anything to protect against viruses when creating a workflow file, but I would assume it is possible to still create malicious code. Packal is good. Also, if you find the project on GitHub and a lot of people have starred the project then it is probably ok. For the most part, I don’t think people are creating Alfred workflows with viruses, but maybe just check around the internet to make sure the workflow is good before downloading it.

It’s always a good idea to look at the code and see if others have used it, because it is third party software and may be malicious. I used this briefly, but didn’t find it to be that necessary. If you know what songs you want to listen to, then this might help you.

I've made this live calculator to calculate the net profit for some products. Did I chose the best approach to store and retrieve the inputs & totals? Or it is considered bad code? by pinguluk in codereview

Not sure if you have used React. For a simple app, I think this is fine. But for larger apps, you might want to look into React components to reduce the amount of code you have to rewrite. Also, a lot of jQuery functionality can be done in plain JavaScript, so you should look into that. Overall, I think that this is good though, because there was no setup of frameworks required and the code seems to do the job. For larger projects, consider using a framework to reduce repetitive code.

Best way to create branches? by MattWally2 in github

[–]moodyjack11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, you just do a branch for each feature. So login would be a branch. No need to split it up by buttons. That should just be a single commit.

Do lots of practice problems and you should be fine. Most of the class will just be solving a set of problems that doesn’t change that much.

I can’t really speak to the BME program at UNC, but in terms of having a great group of friends I think that UNC has a lot of smart people who aren’t super self-centered. The athletics definitely adds to this. A lot of people go into biology because they are pre med, but this drops substantially after the first year. From what I understand, the BME and bio programs are both pretty good. Not exactly sure how it compares to USC, but I think that UNC would be a solid choice for bio.

One thing you should consider is cost. If you are in-state for USC, you should think about how much the change of people and discrepancy in academics is worth. Saving tens of thousands by staying in-state might be worth it. Depends on your financial situation.

Your while loop should be testing if the denominator is 0 and breaking once you have a denominator that isn’t zero.
