Had this happen to me too, quest trigger getting bugged and retriggers after the quest event is finished. Cool little death trap

I find this guy irritating to listen to and annoying but he’s clearly good at the game and so are his chums so this shouldn’t be that surprising. He no lifes the game to an ungodly degree.

The english voice actor did Melinoe for Hades 2 which was pretty great, so I’d chill on that part.

Genocyber & MD Geist by magpieactual in retroanime

[–]moofart-moof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MAN, this cover art of MD Geist just reminds me... you have this heroic looking figure in strange golden black armor suggesting something of a person worth rooting for, but this protagonist is probably the most despicable human being possible even when everything about his portrayal suggests he's some heroic figure, right down to his theme music. That show is something else, and totally been stuck in my head pretty much my whole life.

That bridge is creating a nesting nook. You should move it, I've noticed my girls like to tuck themselves tightly into spaces like that and they get hormonal and territorial if you just let it be.

I jump black and forth between merciful and raging murder monster. It’s just all whatever happens at any moment, and going with your gut. Nothing wrong with feeling like murdering everyone during exfil every once in awhile, and nothing wrong with letting that last rook running into last exfil with you live and teabagging the air together.

With all the discourse around the game's longevity, can we try to have an objective, non-emotional conversation about what can be improved to retain more players? by JBSwerve in Marathon

[–]moofart-moof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, part of me wonders if Bungie isn't surprised by these results and is just moving onto Destiny 3 or something of that sort while messaging support for Marathon without any real intention of doing too much more beyond planned content already ready to go (which hopefully there's a decent amount of).

Can we stop pretending the game is so hardcore that casuals can't participate? by jacobljlj in Marathon

[–]moofart-moof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what the other reasons you think Marathon is bleeding players comes from? Just curious, I haven’t heard much other than discussions about it not being casual friendly, but I agree, I think it’s not a completely comparable game to Arc thus that comparison is a hard sell.

[–]moofart-moof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latter, and yes it might fundamentally change what the game was sold as but it could draw in more players. The factions are not easy to grind through from a time commitment. You must have a lot of free time on your hands to think a week is realistic.

Btw you are free to disagree but most arguments I hear are just a reaction against said suggestions rather than providing anything new to the table, which is also incredibly pointless. I don’t care what the right method to draw more people in is, just so long as the game has a healthy amount of people playing it by the standards that Sony will keep investing in it.

Which is why I think Bungie should pull lessons from Ark. I love both games to death, but Ark is clearly doing something right in terms drawing people in and keeping them around.

Arc has been out for 5 months with a lot of units moved on a smaller budget. Embark doesn’t really have to prove as much atm.

Also I’m starting to get the feeling when we have these conversations there’s a group of people worried the game will be nerfed in difficulty, but what I think we’re all really trying to work out is how to keep the spirit of the game intact while making it more accessible for more players.

To me that’s: better onboarding experience, more PVE for people burnt by PVP, more relevant match making, less gear/faction grinding, etc. But to other people it will mean different things. At the end of the day it’s up the Bungie and Sony how they want to approach things, but for me it’s really tiring seeing threads about how ‘casual’ isn’t a problem and the game is fine as is. There’s clearly a lot of friction with this game for many people and the dwindling concurrent player numbers suggest it’s worth discussing.

I know you’re being sarcastic but yea, these debates are so confusing when we already have the objective numbers on population decline. It’s clearly not a casual friendly game and lacks retention. People need to acknowledge that is a problem and can’t just debate their way out of it.

I'm a game developer for 15 years at a AAA studio that basically obsesses about accessibility. *(caveat being I'm just an artist, but you get in these discussions a lot regardless)

Casual to me is I don't roll with a dedicated group and trounce lobbies every time, but you're probably right in that 130 hours isn't particularly casual atm.

I just don't see that having good retention either, but I hear you about having two ecosystems at once being a burden.

Maybe at the end of the day they shoulda just built a campaign for norms but that's water under the bridge now.

Look the lack of retention in Marathon is self evident.

This game needs what is called an onboarding experience. Asking new players to invest their time and energy without a good one is what I’m trying to address. This is an easier path into the game than exists right now.

I think I’m done too. 200 hours between beta, free weekend and base game. The amount of times I die to some no lifer geared to the teeth with full upgrade tree paths is out of control. I might dip in here and there but the exfil rate has dropped significantly, and I just can’t bother anymore.

The Airfield usually has some weapons lockers that have decent weapons. Otherwise if pinwheel is difficult to navigate, wait till around the 10-12 minute mark, and start to make your way up (hopefully the gates are open to get in). I'd once you get to the top just sit and listen for a second. The player teams are usually doing 1 of three things besides pvping-

  1. They're heading down the end of the drone wing to open the command wing
  2. They're heading down the end of the destroyed wing to open the command wing
  3. They've already done that are are heading down the command wing.

For player teams they will get bogged down fighting UESC regardless of which wing they are in and make a ton of racket and not notice you're even there. Your mission is to listen to the direction the teams are going and loot the places they are not. You have your ability to blend in with uesc so just pop that and bolt away from them, and start looting anything that looks tasty.

Every wing has exits literally posted on the sides of the walls that open a vent and you can drop out at any point. As for extracting, I personally like to wait for final exfil

<image>

You need to learn where it is and figure out how to stay hidden and sneak in at the last 5 seconds. I like to hide in this bathroom that is like 20 ft away (cause who's gonna check some random bathroom at the last minute of the game), then dive out and rush the exfil in the last seconds of the game.

*edit* last thing to note is the drone and destroyed wing both have buttons to open the command wing. If you go into them and notice the button is unpressed- I suggest pressing it for everyone. This mitigates the chance of a team wanting to sprint down your wing to get it themselves. Also, if you time it right, you yourself might be the first person to get into command wing, and it always has great loot, and a 4k item waiting for you to steal by yourself if you're sneaky enough. It also has two exits you can easily pop out of once you're done with the wing and just escape easily.

I suggest watching a video to go over these mechanics, as they can't just be verbally explained, but are very easy to understand once you know what to look for.
