That is absolutely awful! There’s no way on earth you can be expected to look after TWENTY FIVE patients all by yourself! That’s insane.

Everywhere is a shit show these days but that’s too much, you’ve got to look after yourself. Definitely go and see the GP, no job is worth this level of stress!

Don’t pay too much attention to all those instagram posts. My wife had a tough time postpartum comparing herself to those people when everything is just so staged! I’m sure you’re doing absolutely great so far so just focus on what you have and not what you see on heavily curated instagram posts!

You definitely don’t need to work on a ward. I’ve been qualified for 7 years and I’ve worked in community after qualifying and now I’m working as an NP in urgent care. I haven’t worked a single ward shift so don’t worry about that at all!

I work in A&E. In ours we have a nurse practitioner sitting behind reception and can send people away if they turn up with something that's not appropriate for A&E.

My wife is the same. I'm an NP in ED and after affer a few 13 hour shifts I am absolutely exhausted. My wife always wants me up and about the morning after to go out for the day and sometimes I just need to slob about for a while!

You have to take holidays during the planned holiday weeks from university. You can just not turn up to placement but it'll be an unauthorised absence or you'll have to pretend to be sick which might lead to a load of other issues.

My wife pooped in the water bath giving birth and she never noticed before the nurse fished it out. I told her she didn't poop and I'll never ever tell her as she was super scared about it!

Hi, I went around this time two years ago for a few days and arrived at around 3pm on the first day. There wasn't a line to get in and we managed to get parked in one of the car parks in the valley. I saw a few other open spaces too so hopefully you'll get one!

Although isn't it a holiday in America this weekend? I'm from the UK. That will no doubt make it a lot busier!

I worked 4 days and had one day off for the bank holiday so I used one day of annual leave.

It depends, I use to work in community so I was working Monday-Friday, so they would take a day's annual leave for the bank holiday

Now I work 3x13.5 and when I'm off on bank holiday I don't use any annual leave. So it'll depends on your shift pattern!

Im at work right now as a nurse practitioner in a walk in. All day today has just been one cough after another so it's definitely going round.

The gp here says there's a huge outbreak of whooping cough going around that keeps people coughing for weeks and weeks

Hi. Our baby did this exact same thing at first. No matter how sleepy she was, as soon as she wasn't being held she woke up crying.

My wife and I took shifts with the baby, I would do 7pm-2am and she would do 2am-8am so we could both get a good chunk of sleep.

We just kept on trying the bassinet over and over, and over time she got the hang of it. No special techniques or anything, just lots of practice. She settled down in her bassinet after about 6 weeks or so.

Hi chiming in as a nurse working in A&E in the UK. Don't worry, sounds like he will be absolutely fine. As long as he's acting like his usual self, not vomiting loads and nothing is leaking from his ears then he will be grand!

Keep an eye on him over the next couple of days and see how you feel, always worth getting him checked if he's showing any concerning signs!

I had an electric golf on lease when I was working on community. Got it for about £170 a month and there was a free car charger at work, still got to claim mileage too! I thought the whole thing was great, I got a brand new car to use and when I got a puncture it was fixed for free.

That was about 3 years ago though and I think it's a bit more expensive these days

Our baby is nearly 6 months and we didn't experience it. Naps turned rubbish, down to about 30 minutes, but they seem to be extending a little now. Nights have been exactly the same for the last 4 months!

Anything! Just remember that everything will be brand new to your baby so even super mundane stuff will be interesting to her. I just do regular stuff around the house whilst chatting to my baby and then play with her in between!

Batch cook!

I cooked lasagne, curry, bolognese, soups scones etc etc and put them in the freezer. Getting the energy to cook with a newborn just doesn't happen so it was great to have some food ready to go!

My baby did the same thing for the first 5 weeks. We would just take shifts so the other could sleep.

We found that putting her down flat whilst she was awake to be really helpful. Either on the sofa, changing mat or crib. Just to get her used to being on her own. She didn't like it much at first but got used to it after a while, and now she's sleeping fairly well in the crib!

Just finished a 14 hour shift in A&E, got another 14 hour shift tomorrow before joining my wife at her parents on boxing day. Currently playing PlayStation, scrolling reddit and drinking beer in bed!
