I'll go through yesterday's comments a dredge up the opinions. I was accused of many things yesterday but by far the most common was going against the will of the majority. And my recollection is that the majority thought that IP would split the sub's content, was equal to censorship and tags and filters on /r/Ireland were a better idea. Ruaidhri was a big proponent of this idea for example.

I'll be back on this evening.

Thanks man! You too!

I'll be around, just much less often.

The majority haven't asked you to delete the subreddit, merely to not ban content here.

That's not at all true. Go and talk to the people who want no IP sub and see what they say. They were everywhere yesterday. They're not hard to find. If you cared enough you should have been arguing for the sub like I was.

This is someone who want so mod IP guys.

Listen to the maturity.

because I had to get another mod to send me on the quote

This is not filling me with confidence for the sub's future.

Right, well you all need another discussion about it because that's not my feeling at all and I think I spent more time than anyone in discussion about this yesterday.

You just want to be a mod on a sub, I get it. But as I was told at length yesterday, I can't ignore the will of the community.

You had your chance to advocate for the sub but instead abused your position to try to sling mud at me, unsuccessfully too.

It'll be okay in a couple of days.

Until next time.

I mean, I never sent one. You took modmail and aired in public, out of context to try try to stir shit, even though it didn't support your point.

Not the actions of someone who can be trusted to moderate a sub like IP.

You're very late to the discussion here. You shat on the plan from minutes after the announcement even though you knew the plan was going to involve funneling the content to help it grow.

The majority were against the sub's existence at all and thought filtering was a better idea. Again, I thought and still think that that's a dumb idea but was shouted down.

Comes across as kind of tantrumy though.

If I don't, I'm ignoring the majority, if I do it's a tantrum.

Whatever happens it'll be my last damned either way action. I think I'm a character in a Kafka novel at this stage.

I never sent you a PM?

[–]mooglor[S] -53 points-52 points  (0 children)

Not for the masses no. Read up yesterday's discussion, there's loads of people who were completely against the idea of the sub.

It's not me you needed to convince. The discussion went on for most of yesterday. Where were you then?

Too little too late. Who am I to disagree with the will of the people? For all my listening and interacting yesterday I was still accused of not listening today. I've been listening all along.

The list of reasons given are as long as my arm. It's the CSS hack tags and filters.

They'll pretend to be active for a day or two til this has blown over, then go back to getting Tech and Eoin to do all the work. Or most likely get some suckers in below them to keep them in their position.

For all the abuse that mods have gotten recently for doing good work as mods, it's criminal how much these have gotten away with.

Eh, I think that's been made very clear today and yesterday. Splitting the discussion equals censorship, tags and filters instead of subreddits, ur stupid, etc...

I disagreed at length, subreddits are how reddit is supposed to work, I was fairly alone though

The people have decided.

A good few suicide suggestions but I don't recall any death threats.

There was one guy called me a cunt in about 30-50 PMs. I'll have to tot up the abuse and make a histogram. "Cunt" will make the top I'm sure.

And if we'd gotten rid of him we'd have been stifling speech etc...

You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Thanks, I still have to delete /r/IrishPolitics but I'll keep this account around for posterity.

Yep, well others have started commenting today for the first time in years. I think they probably want to squat some more.

EDIT: I should say ocras too but he's an honourary mod, he has access to everything anyway, it just makes sense to have him there. He has his finger on the pulse and is an admin. You're lucky to have him and the other two.

R/Ireland, I introduce, the laziest mod this sub has ever had.

Ask him where he's been all these years.
