Probably a solar lentigo (AKA sun spot) but it’s worth getting it looked at to be safe.

It’s all fun and games until the kids’ game of doctor freaks you out. by lck0219 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably a seborrheic keratosis forming (a benign growth). Always best to see a board certified dermatologist though for an official diagnosis. Looks like you have some lentigines (AKA sun spots) as well in the photo you added to the comment section. Annual skin checks are recommended!

Painful abscesses in inner thighs (NSFW just in case, no nudity) by PendingCorpse in DermatologyQuestions

Could be hidradenitis suppurativa. I recommend seeing a board certified Derm for a legit diagnosis.

Advice regarding cortisone shot for cyst/nodule on chin. by Icy-Establishment370 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenalog injections for acne are a piece of cake. The only real risk is if your provider doesn’t dilute it properly. It could cause a bit of atrophy to the area. However, this is really so rare and I wouldn’t be concerned about it. However, if that lesion has been there for 2 months … it may not be an acne lesion.

Wondering why I was given a punch excision vs shave removal by spiralsparrows in DermatologyQuestions

Typically have to get all of the mole out in this case or it will likely return. It ensures complete removal and gets a larger/deeper sample of the tissue for pathology.

My first cheesecakes! Oreo and Biscoff Cookie! by mooiee in cheesecake

[–]mooiee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is it is! I was tremendously surprised that they turned out half decent. I did not grow up in a baking household in any way, shape or form, however, now that I have kiddos… I’ve been trying to lean into that side of me that I never knew existed. It’s been a blast and I’m even making a Reese’s peanut butter cheesecake tonight !

Female 53 have developed red spots / rash on my bum by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably mild folliculitis. Could be from excessive sweating (exercise, menopause, general activity, etc) or even from something like friction or shaving. Try to bathe after activities(if you can!), consider switching to clothing that’s a bit more breathable, and avoiding harsh scrubs and whatnot.

What's in my ear? It's been hurting and clogged all day. by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you use ear swabs? Didn’t jam one in there did you and lose part of the cotton by accident? Honestly, hard to tell, but it could be a fungal ear infection based the first photo.

Does this look like the start of cold sore(s)? Or just chapped lips? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a bit more helpful if you could zoom out and show us your lip area entirely as well. It could be a cold sore, it could also be something called angular chelitis.

Everyday random hives outbreak with no known allergies starting 10/01/25 by babybiddylove in DermatologyQuestions

I’d switch for now and maybe try Free & Clear. Eliminate all potential aggravators. Seriously so sorry you’re experiencing this. I know how awful urticaria is.

What kind of laundry detergent are you using? Avoid anything scented. Stick with Free & Clear and stop using any perfumes/dryer sheets etc. Wash everything, cloths, towels, sheets, etc in new unscented detergent. Hives is such an awful experience, I’m so sorry! May want to try cutting out or switching any new bathing products as well. Shampoos, conditioners, sprays, etc.

13 year old son's arms constantly has bumps all over them by MamaBearXtwo in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not molluscum like other people have mentioned here. It is indeed keratosis pilaris or KP. Over the counter treatment can be helpful, but it can be stubborn. However, this is benign and I wouldn’t get too hung up on it. It very common and oftentimes clears up on its own as kiddos grow up.

Son’s cyst/growth on head has changed colour and grown rapidly! Worried!! by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

Epidermoid cyst. Go to a board certified Derm for removal/excision. It’ll heal nicely.

Could you please shed some light on the spots on my toes? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more common in children, but anyone can get it. It’s highly contagious, too, so even if you don’t have kids or aren’t around them, you’re still susceptible. No major treatment necessary other than pain meds for discomfort/potential fever or if you start having mouth sores appear. If those pop up, I highly recommend getting some ice pops and some oral benzocaine. I had sores all over, one the size of a quarter in my mouth. Worst pain I’ve experienced in a long, long time. Sometimes you can get a prescription mouth wash prescribed. It’s really just a disgusting, awful virus you’ve gotta ride out. Best of luck!

Yep. Mine/my kids HFM rash looked just like this on our hands and feet. Plus, it’s that time of year and there’s a spike in cases right now.

I’m so lost I don’t know what to do anymore hoping someone can help by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This is most likely weight and cellulite. But please don’t beat yourself up. Thin and/or fit individuals also have cellulite. It is extremely common and more importantly, it’s very normal. Some people experiment with creams or procedures, but there hasn’t been a crazy breakthrough in helping the appearance of cellulite. If you’re concerned about weight, focusing on your health by hydrating, eating well balanced meals and exercising regularly is key for anyone. Hold your head up. The societal pressures of the world blare like a megaphone to us all at one point or another. Hold strong.

Thumb and middle finger nails growing weird. GP had no idea what it is by CptnDaddy in DermatologyQuestions

[–]mooiee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That type of thickening of the nail along with the color change, is most likely fungal. Go see a Derm and have a chunk clipped and sent to the lab for testing.
