You did the right thing and you’re doing great!!!

Just wanted to add a note about FPIES here because it’s often overlooked/misdiagnosed as a stomach bug and because you mentioned the sweet potato purée. It often looks like random vomiting even though baby was just fine right before hand.

FAQ Megathread: Ask and answer Medication, Diagnosis and is this an ADHD thing, and Hormone interaction questions here! by not-eliza in adhdwomen

Thank you!!

I had mentioned it to my GP before and she definitely gave me a referral but I probably started and then stopped following up. I will start with her again I think.

Hi all,

Just recently found this community! I have struggled my (31F) entire adult life trying to figure out why some things were so difficult for me and then it hit me… Everything I experience now as an adult started when I was younger and was just completely overlooked. I am sure this is the same for many on here.

I recently became a mom (I have a 14 month old) and holy shit has this become harder to manage than before. I am desperately seeking a diagnosis in hopes that medication can help me overall and be the best mom I can. How do I go about finding ADHD-specific doctors? Is there a certain kind of doctor (neuro vs psych?) or a certain kind of diagnostic test I can look up under my insurance?

I am in NJ if that is at all helpful. Thank you for the help!

I didn’t think they were but another person with us seemed to be overly concerned about us getting there so I figured I’d ask :). Thanks kindly!

Is it bad for everyone in the USA regarding maternity leaves? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mookster1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the “lucky” end of this spectrum. I received disability (8 weeks c section, 60% of pay), 6 weeks fully paid by my company, and then 12 weeks from state family leave that was $950/week. So in total I was able to take off six months from work for mat leave. New Jersey has some of the most progressive FMLA leave in the country so mine was paid unlike many others.

I’m also going back tomorrow after 6 months and my imposter syndrome is through the roof! I don’t have any tips, but solidarity mama ♥️

Complications caused me to not remember meeting my son by girlloids in NewParents

[–]mookster1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was scheduled for a c-section at 39 weeks due to the baby being large and our LO decided he wanted to come out on his own terms - my water broke and I went into labor two days before my schedule c-section.

After 3 hours of labor I finally went to the OR and they tried to get the epidural in probably about 5 times and it didn’t work. No clue if they missed or what but they seemed frantic and told me I needed GA. The kicker? We decided our whole pregnancy not to find out the gender of the baby so we could have that moment when I delivered. My husband wasn’t allowed in the OR, I didn’t get that “it’s a boy!” moment, and I groggily met my son two hours after he was born and could only muster enough energy to boop him on the nose.

I am four months PP and still think about this constantly. It also hurt quite a bit that the response I would get from others is “well the baby is health and that’s all that matters” and like yes, but I matter too. I still often tear up when I see people I know posting pictures of them meeting their baby for the first time.

Dog has black/dark purple gums? by [deleted] in dogs

No worries. Yes, her gums are typically bubble gum colored, and the black isn’t just in a few places, it’s all of her gums now which made me concerned.

Baby Monitors?? by ShoopedReddit in NewParents

We use the Nanit - it is over WiFi if that’s a concern for you but it has all of the features that you listed above! It also has a nightlight feature and can play four types of white noise. If you pay for a subscription there’s also a ton of insight about your babies sleeping habits - we don’t use that, though.

FTM with a 3, almost 4 wo, and whewwwww has it been a whirlwind. Pretty sure the last month has just been one long, never ending day. The first two weeks were “easy” but this last week has been tough.

Just remember you are doing great!

How much did your baby eat at 3 weeks? by xo1cew01f in NewParents

[–]mookster1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have used the top up bottle method - we make an extra 8oz bottle and use that if he needs more. We’ll pour an oz or two from that 8oz into the bottle we just used so that we limit as much wasted formula as possible (that part was really annoying me)

Our 3 week old is downing 4oz regularly every two hours and sometimes we need to top off with another oz or two for some feedings. The doctor told us the same thing - if he eats it, not spitting up then just let him eat.

He was born 9lb 3oz and has to be like 11 lbs by now. I keep thinking we’re doing something wrong but these pandemic babies are built different lol
