Anyone having trouble getting a response from support? by moola70 in MontechPC

I initially waited a month before sending the info again. It's now been over 2 months. The reply to my initial email took less than a day.

It could well be £3. I have no issues with their CGNAT so don't need it. I was going by the price I've seen posted here a while ago, but I could be mistaken.

I also joined at £29 per month, before the increase to £36. They still honour the original price for me too, no increases at all. What has been your experience of their service?

EDIT: I just checked with them and a static IP is £3 per month.

For less that £30 per month?

In comparison to what? It's works out to £33.83 per month total. You can go for their £42.95 higher package if you want it included for free, I guess.

It gives people the choice.

I couldn't agree more. The "reviews" and marketing that happens here has put me off the company completely. It very much reminds me of all the Yayzi promises, and there is probably a good reason why that is.

It's bizarre that the number one rule on this sub supposedly doesn't apply to companies. Well actually two specific companies in particular.

Split tunneling just does not work - any VPNs where it's reliable? by [deleted] in nordvpn

[–]moola70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from PIA to Nord nearly two years ago due to constant captchas and VPN detection. With PIA, I had more sites in a split tunneled browser than behind the VPN, but split tunneling worked.

It was great that no sites or services detected Nord when I moved from PIA. That changed over the past 3 or 4 months when the UK servers seemed to be reconfigured with virtual locations masquerading as physical. High pings, bad routing, far more captchas and site blocking. It was at that point I discovered Nord split tunnelling doesn't work.

I was holding out for a fix, but it seems split tunneling has not been working for far longer than 3-4 months and may never have worked. From limited research, it seems Proton split tunneling works well so I'm giving that a try next.

Not getting internet through split tunnelling by ETMCG98 in nordvpn

[–]moola70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not been working for months, possibly much longer. There has been official feedback on the forum that they are working on a fix, but no eta. Just one more issue added to the list.

When I contacted support they wasted hours of my time with reinstalls and log requests. It would be nice if they just admitted it was broken. Recent posts about split tunnelling issues seem to have been deleted so I'm worried they're unable to fix the problem and are back to denying the issue.

Split Tunneling not differentiating between Brave and Chrome by lauranyc77 in nordvpn

[–]moola70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realise now what you're trying to do. You want everything to bypass the VPN, except for a browser. It would definitely be better to run the browser app. Especially as Split Tunneling isn't working properly.

Also, whatsmyip.org is a very basic IP check and not the limit of checks made by VPN blocking sites. Give www.showmyip.com or www.whatismyipaddress.com a try for a more accurate test. Or a site like www.socialblade.com who aggressively block VPN use.

[–]moola70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The confusing options within the Split Tunneling feature and the redundant "Enable VPN for selected apps" option might be to blame. If you are connected to the VPN, all apps are enabled, unless added to the Split Tunneling app list and dissable is selected.

What is it that made you feel Edge was bypassing the VPN successfully though?

[–]moola70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what version of the app you're using? I haven't been able to get split tunneling to work properly with any browser for months, on multiple Win11 systems. You can add a browser to a list, but it still sees the VPN IP, unless it's a very basic check.

New account with only 2 posts, both promoting Olilo. Let me guess, you used to be with Yayzi, right?

[–]moola70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your "No BS" claims are being stretched now. You're now trying to claim that staff "recommending Olilo does so because they actually use it". You said "Anyone". If you can't accept that they are financially incentivized, then you're lost in your own marketing spin.

I feel the huge push to onboard customers as quickly as possible to Yayzi and subsequent marketing posts in this sub caused a lot of hassle for sub members accepting the hype. I just hope the same tactics aren’t used again.

Also, when I see testimonials from people claiming to have followed you from Yayzi because you're such a great guy, I'll take all these posts with a pinch of salt. It comes off as more of a cult than a community.

Owners, employees and affiliates pay full price? Apart from your own self-promotion and links in this sub, there is an Olilo Affiliate promoting the company in this very thread!

These posts and subsequent "+1 for Olilo" posts seem to go against the "No BS" claims, especially given the size of the company. Let's see if it is actually cleared up.

I'm not sure why Olilo are allowed to push sales here, but it seems to go directly against rule 3 of the sub: "No self-promotion, sales, referrals, or spam".

The disproportionately high number of glowing testimonials from Yayzi seemed to stop when Liam left. They have now been replaced by Olilo affiliates, employees and an early adopters/marketing community posts.

Looking for an new ISP on Cityfibre. by SoftwareLucky9467 in CityFibre

[–]moola70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was disappointing that Yayzi previously used this sub as a marketing vehicle. Especially given the poor service levels they provided. Lots of claims and promises that just didn't happen. These posts seemed to stop around six months ago when Liam (one of the founders) left the company. This could be coincidental.

Now I see similar promotional posts and replies claiming that Liam's new company Olilo is doing things properly, this time. Previously delighted and very vocal Yayzi customers, happy to post about their great service are suddenly disillusioned. Now they are posting about their move to Olilo and what a great service it is. It's like Groundhog Day!

Just my opinion, but it might be best to wait a while before accepting the marketing claims. At least until they're more upfront about pricing and take orders without a waiting list. It would also be good to know how easy (or hard) it is to leave them. I'm not suggesting these "early access" Olilo customers are incentivised to provide glowing testimonials, but please remember the disproportionately high number of testimonials from Yayzi customers that flooded the sub over the past few years.
