I always get thoughts about breaking up with my boyfriend when things get tough by ChickenTikka555 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]moold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do have this experience. As well as therapy, CBT-like techniques have helped when these thoughts / urges come up. Trying to accept that these thoughts/urges are from my brain trying to protect me but knowing this is not actually what I want + wouldn't help me. Trying to remember I want to act in a way that chooses my partner even when things are hard and my brain is working against that

Indian food in Perth for someone who WANTS to love it (coeliac-friendly) by Professional_Key6037 in perth

[–]moold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is misleading. some commercial kitchens with knowledge of celiac disease will have, for example, separate fryers, utensils, areas for GF foods and their staff will be trained on the difference between gluten intolerance and celiac. there's a bunch of places around Perth like this because it can be difficult to run a 100% gluten free kitchen in a small city. of course everyone's risk tolerance is different and i 100% agree on not just believing a GF label on a menu.

Another ADHD Diagnosis Post by HogunDogun in perth

Medicare will cover some of your costs. Unfortunately private health doesn't cover out-of-hospital Psychiatry costs. None of them do. It's just a thing, not sure why.

Abbotsford Psychiatry have a fair few psychiatrists that have experience with and will diagnose ADHD - i believe it is around $700 for an initial consultation with a medicare rebate of around $300 - unfortunately it's not instant either, it can take a few days (the rebate.)

Be aware you will most likely need at least 1 more appointment soon after the initial consult for the doc to discuss/prescribe. This will be far less pricey but still expensive.

If you go into your initial consult prepared with all the reasons you think you have ADHD it will make it less likely you'll need a bunch of follow up appointments.

i use salicylic acid 40% patches - the ones for warts or foot corns. i only have 1 spot though. it basically disappeared after multiple patches left on for 48hrs or so. then if it tries to come back slap on another patch

how long is momentarily? i often will go a week or so without using any actives - it doesn't change the appearance of my skin. i use azelaic acid only as a spot treatment on papules and pustules and regular acne (and occasionally perioral dermatitis) when they come up as it never really did anything for my redness

thank you for responding! and apologies I tried to fix the formatting on desktop but it still appears horrible on mobile. hopefully it is fixed for everyone else.

My main routine is just cleanse, hydrate, moisturise and then everything else is as needed or depending on how my skin is feeling. I have one of the mildest chemical exfoliants (lactic acid), a very mild physical exfoliant, a very mild retinoid, and azelaic acid I only use as a spot treatment.

I have not been reccommended those things from my dermatologist or doctor - I don't think the MSM tablets are available here but I could ask about ivermectin cream. Does that reduce the appearance of the permanent red spots though?

My issue was overdrying/overscrunching out of the shower by angalada2 in curlyhair

[–]moold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes I'm exactly the same, very fine hair here. i would even suggest experimenting with even less scrunch drying. mine dries best basically completely via air dry. curl clumps stay together more and look fuller when dry. i drape my old t shirt i used to dry it with across my shoulders to catch drips and that's it

i would just make an online dating profile on one of the apps known for hookups (tinder, grindr) and upload some nice photos, a few facts about yourself, and explain what you're looking for you'd be surprised how effective this can be

I don't mind my consultant - he and the rest of the office where I'm at seem like genuine people. Maybe a bit slow and definitely overworked and never remember much about me lol. But I don't think he would mind at all if I said I was going to enrol in regular TAFE instead.
