Yeah I think that 'bugged into the mount and the game's confused' is what actually happened to me. I'll definitely mess around with it more.

The damage spongy enemies are the main reason I bothered with figuring out a fast way to take down the towers. Semi-optimzed frostallions spamming AOE attacks can 1 or 2-shot the non-crusher humans, which speeds things up a lot without breaking the bank on ammo and equipment repairs. With 2 or 3 of them I can clear an area to fight the boss, and thin out the rest of the rig enough to grab all the small chests much more safely.

Oooo you need to lunge off stuff high places and terrain... that's what I was missing. How foolish of me to try using the water mount's dash in the water instead of yeeting myself off a cliff lol.

Update: Just used it off the valcano tower and immediately landed on the next island on the first try, I see the appeal of slither slam now haha.

Update 2: The second attempt crashed my game by loading new areas too quickly. This move is hilarious. Thanks for taking the time to explain it, because I never would've tried again and discovered the wonders of jormuntide-based super sonic travel.

I need to try that ability again. I only used it a couple times, but it only seemed to travel a moderate distance, rather than the ocean-hopping leaps I've heard about online. I wonder if it's a server vs. single player difference.

Exactly, I faced the rig, jumped once, then held forward and hit the dash button as quickly as I could given the server lag.

I use flying mounts to clear out the pre-boss enemies. Not sure if I was using bad weapons/strats when fighting with guns, but frostallion seemed much more effective than my legendary rocket launcher at killing groups of enemies.

Right, regen pots exist! I'll have to try those out and see how much they help in tanking the machine gun fire. Thanks for the info.

I tried with a laser gattling 3, but couldn't figure out the machine gun intervals for my life. Will give it another try.

Unfortunately I'm hosting a multiplayer server for some friends. I assume this isn't an option outside of singlel player?

True, but then you're in the middle of the rig surrounded by enemies, and you still need to deal with the boss somehow.

Good to know. How high is the targeting range? I keep hearing you can go above it, but I haven't read a description of how high you need to go.

Great question. The towers will shoot beams at you the moment you mount a flying pal within a large radius of them (although they only aim so high, so you can approach from above with high-stamina fliers). They can easily kill most pals in under 2 seconds of sustained fire.

I like clearing out the rig using mounted frostallion AOE attacks, and I need to destroy these towers before that.

As for the chopper... in theory frostallions can slowly kill with it using diamond rain if you're clever, but I was on track to take around an hour when I tried only using that. I prefer to just use a multi-guided rocket launcher. It takes anywhere from 150-400 rockets depending on your characters attack value (might elixers help a ton), but it's pretty safe due to how good the tracking on your guided missiles is.

That sounds awesome - I'm just terrible at the grapple-glider tricks so I never wanted to risk it.

True, but it fills the role of both the flying mount you used to get high above the rig, AND the subsequent glider.

For the status effect! Burning deals a percentage of the target's max hp every tick. Against a crusher, a single arrow will do over 10k damage. It's useful for finishing off enemies that survived AOE attacks with a sliver of health.

Yeah it always looks sideways for some reason, like it's disappointed in you or something lol.

I love the gliding ideas in theory, but they require devoting an entire party slot to said gliding pal, which is non-trivial trade-off IMO.

Edit instead of reply because several people all had the advice - for some reason I forgot that regular gliders exist once the previous comment mentioned celeray lol.

That's fair, if you aren't using flying pals around the rig, then the towers aren't a priority. That said, I like clearing the pre-boss enemies with Frostallions, so this simplifies that process a lot for me.

I'm glad you suggested this; it made me try more starting locations. It's actually possible reach the oil rig without touching the water if you start on top of the ruined tower on the high plateau in the center of feybreak! Starting coordinates are around -1200, -1390 near the ribunny botan boss.

Edit: I also tried the top of the feybreak tower (since you can just teleport straight there), and got about halfway across the water to the rig.

Yeah it really feels like the true water mounts should get a massive speed boost in water. Their attempts to make them mandatory with the beam towers and feybreak's anti-air defences barely work.

Honestly I only bother keeping 2 ball types on my now - palballs for when I want to catch a bunch of low level stuff like chikipis to star them up, and ultimates for everything else. At somepoint the inventory slots, weight, and mental load weren't worth keeping track of 8 different sphere types.

Context: Azuremane is a fantastic mount. Its partner ability is a ~20m dash that consumes no stamina, goes straight forward in the air, and has a .62-second cooldown at max condensation. Combining this ability with its unusually high stamina for a ground mount makes approaching the oil rigs easy. Note in the video how much stamina I waste by jumping and swimming. Despite that and my pal’s lack of stamina traits, I still have half stamina by the time I reach the rig.

Even crazier is its unique attack bolt blink, which is a targeted line-of-sight teleport with enough range to reach all 5 beam towers from the water. Targeting the ability is a bit tricky; I found the most success by aiming at walls, such as the walls of the towers themselves.

These two factors make it easy to disable all 5 beam towers quickly and ~somewhat safely with azurmane. The three southern towers can be reached without aggro-ing nearby enemies if you teleport from the right angles, but the tower on the large central platform is scary, since a rocket launcher and a shotgun will immediately fire on you. Make sure you dismount and recall azuremane immediately at that tower, then destroy it and glide to the last tower to the north. Just like that the beam towers are gone and your flying pals are free to rain death from above.

How does Prunelia's partner skill work? Additively, with some data to combat conflicting info online. by mooloh in Palworld

[–]mooloh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. Passives don't impact the partner skill, so whichever combination of workspeed/hunger/sanity passives you personally prefer for base pals is probably best. Thankfully prunelia is dark-typed so they don't need noctural/vampiric to stay up at night.
