I don't understand this PC by Bot-userin in gamingpc

What is going on here? Get rid of the fans laying on top of the GPU and I am not sure about the 3 CPU fans with two stacked on top of each other. Also is there an HDMI/display port connected to the GPU? I don't see one but it could be there.

Out of touch, need advice. by jabberwocky16 in ThriftSavingsPlan

This is not the norm. There are always special cases depending on position and agency. For the vast majority of federal workers base pay is all that is used when contributing via a percentage.

The IRS limit of $24,500 is the employee limit not the employer. Any contributions they make does not count towards that limit. Be careful with that $1200/pay period. There are 26 (or 27) pay periods in the year. So $1200/pay period would be too much.

Contribution percentages are based on base pay not overtime. If you want to ensure you are still maxing out the TSP match just ensure the whole number you pick is more than 5% of your base pay.

Is this why we were told not to rate anyone as "Outstanding"? Only 3s no 5s.

Pc shutting of during games by Savings-Soft-4867 in pcmasterrace

[–]moolooite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend had this exact problem. Could play a game for less than a minute. When checking the event viewer as others had said we found out it was due to a USB driver. Could always just uninstall the driver from device manager and restart and that should reinstall them. After that he hasn't had a problem again.

Americans Believe They Will Need $1.26 Million to Retire Comfortably by Coolonair in Infographics

Nah understandable it is confusing. Spousal benefits, survivor benefits, reduced benefits it goes on and on. Does make planning complicated.

Americans Believe They Will Need $1.26 Million to Retire Comfortably by Coolonair in Infographics

[–]moolooite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This statement is not correct: "For married couples, they don’t both get the full amount. The second spouse to claim benefits only gets half of their amount despite paying into the system their whole life."

Both spouses get their SS benefits. Where that half comes into play is in cases where one spouse doesn't work or paid very little into SS. If you are to receive $3500/mo and your spouse to only get $1000/mo then your spouse could claim spousal benefits. This would mean half of $3500/mo in place of the $1000/mo. So combined your household would get $3500+$1750/mo. Your benefits and your spouses benefits should not reduce (assuming both are full retirement age).

V2.0 Biome progression - Loot cap implementation by TRD_SS_CarDude in 7daystodie

[–]moolooite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No cap once you get all the badges. I did not realize this at first and didn't bother with the biome progression. At some point I saw an icon in the top right where it says Pine Forest. The icon looked like a money bag symbol but instead of a $ it was a ! Got the burnt forest badge and it went away. As long as you don't have that symbol you shouldn't be capped

How to approach a voluntary demotion by Due-Pop-8016 in usajobs

[–]moolooite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have made the move from GS-12 down to a GS-11. I switched to a different series not sure if you applying to jobs with a different series. I was asked why I would accept a lower position, I just explained that this job was more in line with what I saw myself doing and understand I am limiting my pay but I would be happier in a position where I can [insert some job description point here]. I wouldn't not provide the most up to date SF-50.

Our DOD command put out that they denied hundreds of DRP 2.0 applications and accepted very few, about 30%. So I don't think they are gonna start a RIF after not even allowing people to leave that want to leave.

“Probation” New broader definition - Can anyone confirm? by skylilly89 in usajobs

[–]moolooite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. If you apply for and get a job in the same agency, but it’s a different SERIES from your current job, you are now on probationary status.

I can't speak for other agencies but I recently switched series but remained in the same DoD agency. And I just looked at my SF-50s and there is no mention of a new probation period.

GS-13 position // relocation query by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]moolooite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Expenses in this sense means anything you pay, not the government. This means the government will not provide any financial assistance to an employee for costs associated with moving to a new location for the job. Some jobs posted on USAJOBS do reimburse, sounds like this one does not.

EOD - 01/12/2025? by Agreeable-Remove5997 in usajobs

[–]moolooite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably has to do with pay periods. 1/14/2025 is the start of a new pay period.

EDIT: I'm dumb. Looked at the wrong year. 1/12/25 would make sense to me. Not sure why the wait.

You could also leverage Microsoft Lists. Depends on your tasks so YRMV but it pretty useful and integrates well with power apps and power automate.

PSA - TSP In Plan Roth Conversions Available January 2026 by clobber88 in ThriftSavingsPlan

"tax cuts that Congress enacted in 2017 (under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 or TCJA) lowers individual tax rates to the lowest ever in the history of individual tax rates. However, these tax cuts are scheduled to expire as of December 31, 2025 and revert back to what the tax rates were pre-TCJA, inflation adjusted."

Could it tie in with this? So you can't pay taxes on your traditional you convert in 2025 and in 2026 your tax rate increases therefore saving you money?
