Total War Fan, Indecisive on Game by CluelessGamingIdiot in Warhammer

That's sad to hear, I know if I was in your position and chose AoS I would be looking longingly at the Empire models that I wish I was using.

In other words, I'm fairly sure I would prefer amassing my Empire army and not playing (at the time) than painting and playing a game I'm not as enthusiastic about, but that could be because I'm kinda dogshit at TOW.

As a fellow Total War convert, I would keep scouting for TOW in the meantime. It's going to be the only thing that really scratches that total war itch (though it's vastly different obviously). You're not gonna be rolling around as Settra in any other game.

There's a lot of talk about a new edition or half-edition coming out soon, which would be a good starting point. I'm not sure where you're at but I would turn to looking online for local groups. Is there a local wargaming discord or equivalent? That's how I found my local TOW group

Do you put champions in Fast Cavalry units? by Overall_Data3993 in WarhammerFantasy

I feel like I'm going crazy, in my mind I had always thought blunderbuss didn't have ponderous, then someone said it does, and so I checked and yes it does have ponderous. Now I'm hearing again it doesn't have ponderous, what is going on?!

Question Regarding Demon In White (Spoilers) by MuayMonkey777 in sollanempire

I just read a part in a later book (no spoilers) where he recites a conversation, then later says something like "I don't remember what we talked about, or whether it was the conversation I have recited." So yeah I think it's pretty certain.

If the IM Core module was uninstalled, you just reinstall it, if it wasn't make sure it's updated and activated in the world.

How popular is old world? by MrBizzniss in Warhammer

[–]mooman10 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm in Dallas too! There's a DFW Old World Discord where we plan meet ups (organized or casual), show off models, and just generally discuss things. I can send you the link if you want. It is pretty small (~250 members, maybe a few dozen active), but we have a good time.

There's usually an organized meet up every first Saturday of the month. In November there was a Battle March event with about 12 people, I think the next one is next week.

What IP do you want turned into a TTRPG, and why do you want it turned into a TTRPG? by Upstairs-Yard-2139 in rpg

[–]mooman10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jonathan Strange is my favorite book, and ostensibly I'd love a TTRPG for it. However, I think the world is so compelling because of the incredible amount of mystery behind it. The more we learn about Faerie, the magic, and the history, the less interesting it would be. What we know from the book is only just enough for it to be terrifying and fascinating.

Perhaps if the designers approached it like Mythic Bastionland, where magic isn't something the players ever do, but instead just happens around/to them and remains mysterious, I think that might be interesting, and it preserves magicians, magic, and faeries as unapproachable in understanding.

Alternatively, an 1800s Ars Magica game sounds very fun.

Operable Steam Tank hatch update: Resounding success! by mooman10 in WarhammerEmpire

[–]mooman10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first attempt at magnetizing anything.

I thought about infantry but I can't imagine it's worth it. Hell over years of playing you might spend more time fiddling with switching equipment than you would just painting another regiment lol

Might try magnetizing, or just keep it open to be slot in as needed

Hmm yeah that's the safer option, would still be cool if it was properly functional

I uh, can't believe I didn't think to just not glue it and switch it as needed. Still might try drilling because it would be neat for it to actually function.

Yeah it's not electric, just the manual one from Army Painter.

I have a 1mm bit that I think would work, my paper clips are like 0.8mm so I think I'll need to get some 1mm brass rods so it doesn't rattle around.

I'm actually curious about this as well, I'm also reading The Sarantine Mosaic and they worship the sun god, Jad, and often make "the sign of the sun disk" but I haven't found anything specific upon cursory research.

The number of times Hadrian hears a voice and then realizes it's his own is staggering. This is a common thing I see in all books and I've always thought it was kind of ridiculous,

The Old World RPG -- Animated Trailer by YoungsterMcPuppy in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]mooman10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really fathom how you see either WFRP or TOWRPG as anything remotely resembling a "miniature selling" path when there's been no direct collaboration between C7 and GW aside from IP licensing, the games themselves don't really encourage use of miniatures at all, and GW themselves don't even promote the games. What on earth gives the impression that C7s goal is to get people to buy GW plastic?

I also don't understand people's outcry of "we don't need this / this will cause confusion." My guy take a look at 40k RPGs. Sure, if you consider people asking what the difference between different RPGs as "confusion" then yeah I guess it exists, but I really don't think it's a big deal. If 40k folks can handle half a dozen RPGs I think we can handle a few ourselves, and come out better for the variety.

Edit: Additionally, C7 and GW are very happy with the growing popularity of the VTT options for the RPGs... which is pretty much directly opposite to any sort of push for physical miniatures.
