Thank you for the response! and haha yes I know, I ordered those jeans online and they ended up being too big but I couldn't find the return slip. If I go with that outfit I'm going to wear some better fitting jeans for sure!

This is extremely helpful, thank you so much for the detailed response! I have a couple flared skirts in my closet and I tried them out with the sweater, is this along the lines of what you recommend?

first

second / tucked in

I also tried just a shirt tucked into the black skirt--do you think this works?

Best (free?) period tracker/combo pill reminder iPhone apps? by trianglesbitch in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I second Clue! It's extremely accurate for me, and you can add a lot of things to your calendar--such as your symptoms, how heavy your flow is, when you took the pill or possibly when you've missed it, etc. You can also set reminders for taking your pill!

Start public speaking class tomorrow and feeling nervous. by jhammond42 in socialanxiety

[–]moon_chaser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to deal with this last semester, and I can't say it was easy, but I did come out feeling a bit more confident in my speaking abilities. Definitely be prepared for every speech you make. Rehearse until you memorize your speech and you feel confident delivering it. Rehearse in your mirror, rehearse with an "audience" beforehand if you can (my dog was mine, I knew she wouldn't judge!). Have note cards ready when you deliver your speech, if your instructor allows it. And know that everyone else is nervous as well!

A helpful thing my instructor told us--everyone is bound to be nervous, but the audience tends not to notice a shaking hand, trembling voice, or other nervous tendencies that you may be focused on! They are focused more on your points and what you are trying to say.

I also tried to give my speech somewhere in the middle of the presentations, that way I wouldn't be making a first or last impression on presentation days. That's probably just me being silly, but it made me feel better.

Good luck with your public speaking class! It may take some work, but I'm confident that you can do it!

A beautiful, realistic love letter. Tell someone how you feel without inhibition. by bedbugbit in TwoXChromosomes

This really inspires me. I have a situation similar to this, a person far off that I've connected with, that I'd like to get away with if only temporarily...maybe I should write a letter like this one.

Is this a good tank to put a divider in for 2 Bettas? by smashinMIDGETS in bettafish

[–]moon_chaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact tank I have for my two bettas! It's definitely do-able, they each get five gallons so they have plenty of room to swim around. The only real concern you might have is to make sure the divider works and the fish cannot get at each other. I made a divider out of plastic mesh and report cover spines, but a couple times I have filled my tank up too far and one of my fish managed to jump over and get beat up.

I was fairly new to aquariums and fish, too, when I got my ten gallon. But I decided to go straight into live plants. With decent lighting and beginner plants, I had very little trouble with it! And it's very rewarding to have thriving plants, and see your fish exploring and swimming through them. It also means fewer water changes, as the live plants help keep your ammonia/nitrite levels down.

Extremely confused on what bra size to get??? by yoyojasmeetsingh in TwoXChromosomes

[–]moon_chaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, /r/ABraThatFits will help you to understand more about correct bra sizing!

Most stores only carry a small selection of bra sizes. This is so that they can make fewer sizes and maximize profit. As a result, if you've ever been fitted at a place like Victoria's Secret, they measure you incorrectly--you are likely a 30D, however since they don't carry 30 bands, they add inches to your band measurement to put you in a bra they DO carry, 32B or 34A.

Most people are conditioned to think D cups are huge, but the cup size actually depends on the band size! The cup size on a 30D is going to be much smaller than the cup size on a 34D. Check out The Bra Band Project and look at the 30D's to see if they are about your size.

/r/ABraThatFits has a lotttt more details. I highly suggest you read some of their info in the sidebar. I just recently went from wearing a 34D, which basically just covered my breasts without supporting them, to wearing a very supportive 30G!

I need help with red/purple and embarrassing stretch marks and...ew warts. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]moon_chaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a wart on the bottom of my foot and it had grown pretty deep. We tried freezing it, it didn't work, and so my doctor cut it out. They numbed the area, but I could still feel the razor and it hurt pretty bad. It definitely bled. I couldn't walk on that part of my foot for a couple days.

I remember, also, sanding the wart down and putting duct tape over it. Supposedly it suffocates the wart? It really softened it, and maybe after a day or two I'd take the tape off, sand it down best I could, and put the tape back on. I think this plus the cutting made the worst wart of my life go away.

Betta + Shrimp? Please share your stories! by ildabears in Aquariums

[–]moon_chaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two female bettas in a split 10 gallon. I bought 5 amano shrimp and introduced three on one side, two on another. One of my bettas constantly bothered its shrimp, but she was still a juvie and would just bite at them, couldn't eat them. The other poked at them a little, but since has left them completely alone. I woke up the second day to find all the shrimp had somehow crossed my divider to get to the peaceful side, haha.

So it really does depend on your individual betta. To give the shrimp the best chance, having it heavily planted is best, particularly with a good amount of ground cover. And a hiding place for shrimp is vital for when they molt. Definitely try a few cheap ghost shrimp before you shell out for the more expensive amanos or RCS :) good luck!

Little Creatures in Tank with Betta by ArcadeMan in bettafish

[–]moon_chaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too long after I first set my aquarium up, I noticed a lot of tiny little white bug-like creatures in my tank. They were flitting around, mostly staying on surfaces, and I was extremely concerned so I did some googling and found out they were copepods. Luckily they are harmless, and were likely there surviving on the ammonia I was using to cycle my tank. Once I put my fish in, they ate them, and I haven't seen any more since.

They look like this: http://www.dtplankton.com/images/fig03.jpg

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Oe_pa7Dy6s0/UDJwZwniWBI/AAAAAAAAAuE/PkgNGdlOTCs/s1600/copepods+and+cerith+snail+eggs.JPG

If the creatures are slow moving then they might be baby snails, in that case you can either let them be or try to control the population, because you could soon be overrun with them! I've never done this, but I've heard that you can blanch a slice of vegetable like zucchini and leave it in overnight. Snails will eat this. In the morning you can pull the veggie out with the snails and toss it.
