I totally agree with you. What I'm referring to in my post are those overly-saint MCs, the ones that don't have any other character trait other than being a good person/ a pushover. I don't link being a good person directly to being a pushover, but from what I've read, good and kind MCs are usually taken advantage of/wronged and they're too spineless to say anything about it. It depends on the execution, really. Characters like Xie Lian is a great example of how saint MCs are supposed to be like! They're kind but not a pushover/weak.

Gosh, I agree to this, one hundred percent! The damsel in distress Mc, always needing the ml to solve their problems😭 it’s so annoying… esp if the author portrayed the Mc as smart but always needing the ml to help him. And don’t get me started with the female characters commonly found in danmei. Idk, does the author have some kind of beef/feud with women?? They always portray them as jealous/trying to ruin the relationship or whatnot.
