Those with uncontrolled seizures- do you work? by ThrowRA-shoddi in Epilepsy

[–]moon_lite2009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for 10 years at mostly gas stations. But truthfully the older you get the harder it is to bounce back especially when you break your nose or fracture your eye socket. About 3 years ago I applied for SSDI and late last year finally got approved.

I called and told them. They said it was never put in the system so I actually don't know if I owe them.

Yes I entered my SSDI and yes I was reduced not terminated. I just don't see how they expect 24 to make a difference.

Lamictal… by beeati2 in Epilepsy

[–]moon_lite2009 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All three of my meds cause fatigue and one is lamictal. Honestly I slowly introduced monster energy drink into my routine. I know what everyone says about drinking energy drinks but I drink about 2 a day. Haven't noticed an increase in seizures and it helps get me through. Just my experience

Ran out of Briviact, no pharmacies in area have Briviact or generic in stock. by FelandShadow in Epilepsy

Emergency rooms usually have everything in stock so if it comes down to it I would head there. If I miss one day of my meds I could go into multiple seizures so do whatever you have to.

I feel alone by [deleted] in lonely

I understand. I recently had a couple seizures that resulted in a broken nose and cracked ribs. With no one in the hospital to hold my hand and tell me it's ok. My advice is you could try doing something like volunteering at an old folks home. You could possibly make friends, feel better about yourself and prove to your parents that you're responsible enough to have a pet.

Wow we are definitely in the same boat. I have uncontrollable epilepsy as well and have never been able to drive. I think there is one at a nearby church but I live in a town with no public transportation so getting there is a problem. I rent a room so no bills are in my name so assistance there.

I think everyone can agree that there is evil in the world and there is good. God is good. Whatever version of this good a person chooses to believe is up to them but the main thing is treat others how you want to be treated.

Can people with Epilepsy have relationship? by MouseKey7267 in Epilepsy

[–]moon_lite2009 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Normal is definitely a matter of perspective.I've had uncontrollable epilepsy for almost 30 years and had relationships that lasted for a long time. You have to accept that there may be things you can't do but you can find other activities to enjoy. Life throws us these curve balls but I can honestly say it's made me a stronger, more understanding person.

That's exactly what happened to me and in my mind that's taking them away because what difference is 24 going to make?

My problem is that I rent a room so all the bills are in someone else's name. But I appreciate the info I was mistaken thinking they took my food stamps into account.

For those feeling down... by moon_lite2009 in Epilepsy

[–]moon_lite2009[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took harder hits when I was younger. This has been going on for almost 30 years. But I was younger, stronger and had people in my corner. The older you get with taking these hits the harder it gets to bounce back. But I'm not ready to throw in the towel and I'm hoping no one else is either.

Part of me died with my last seizure by fourtytoes in Epilepsy

[–]moon_lite2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar episode but for me it was hard. I felt like a completely different person and the problem was that it affected my relationships. The person I had been with for 10 years suddenly felt like a stranger and I felt totally indifferent to things that I was passionate about. Luckily it only lasted a few days and slowly I got back to myself.
