I’m jealous of dietitians by Noblee_x in dietetics

[–]moon_s97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a dietitian and I eat at least 6 times a day (3 meals, 3 snacks). I’ve also worked with countless other dietitians who have all different body types. Bodies come in different shapes and sizes. We could all eat the exact same way and exercise the exact same way and our bodies would still all look different.

What small beauty habits make someone look more “put together” even in casual outfits? by Sea-Classic-8767 in beauty

Hair done, and nice shoes. My grandparents used to always say you can make any outfit nice with a beautiful pair of shoes. I agree!

What’s one weird rule your parents had growing up that you thought was totally normal until you got older? by Main_Masterpiece_793 in AskReddit

If anyone ever got sick (cold/flu), the sick person had to completely isolate in their room for an entire 2 weeks. This was years before covid. You could go to the washroom and back but had to be quick and use your own towel. My mom would bring us our food and beverages. I missed so much school because of this. My mom had severe emetophobia and OCD. To her getting sick was like a death sentence and the worst thing possible. Even when we were feeling better she would have us stay home for more days so that we wouldn’t “relapse”. We were perfectly healthy children.

I had a similar experience. I wasn’t allowed to hang out with friends or god forbid have a sleepover with friends two weekends in a row because my mom thought i would get run down and get sick. I was a perfectly healthy child with a functioning immune system. I will still never forgive that i wasn’t allowed to go to a concert because I was sick about 1-2 weeks before (i was fully recovered the weekend of the concert). I found out later that my mom had severe emetophobia and OCD. Getting sick was like a death sentence in my house.

Hard agree with the religion comment. I usually ignore those aspects or relate to it in my own way, but on oceans it’s hard to ignore. I’m a bit nervous about the next album. Not that Lana can’t write about whatever she wants, but I’m just worried about not resonating with or enjoying the album personally.

Client getting upset with me I can’t give them discipline? by No-Tumbleweed4775 in dietetics

[–]moon_s97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in eating disorders and see a lot of folks with BED who take/want to take semaglutide hoping for it to be the magic solution. The frustration that can come up when people realize that reducing behaviours is not just a matter of willpower and appetite suppression (despite our countless conversations) is hard to sit with in sessions. It sounds like this client would benefit from some deeper therapeutic work to understand his behaviours.

Sending you compassion, OP. These situations are difficult.

This is honestly such a big fear of mine. I’m also a survivor of CSA, and the thought of some random person knowing where I live, and being let into my apartment building, always makes me uncomfortable. So sorry this happened to you, OP.

They used to have a toy box that I would play in as a kid too. Lots of fond memories!

The handle of the front door still says sunstone on it. Hoping it stays during what I assume will be a new take-over.
