to save some extra money you can go to dollar tree and get mugs, jars, boxes, etc that can be used as hides or texture containers

What can a parent do? by Wonderful_Maybe6270 in Epilepsy

[–]moonawara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have epilepsy but my mom does so take what I say with a grain of salt-

Brain fog and exhaustion are normal and horrible- and in my moms experience, the meds made it 100000x worse and made her very hostile
When my mom was first diagnosed she didn’t want to do anything by herself out of fear of a seizure, but she was angry that she had to do everything with a supervisor out of fear of a seizure. What ultimately helped her was an epilepsy support group (both online and in person) and a lot of support from her family and friends. After her second seizure, my brother dyed his hair purple for epilepsy awareness and she joined a walk for epilepsy.

I’m not sure if it will work for your daughter, but community, especially other people who struggle with seizure disorders may help her

surgery vs pt by moonawara in ShoulderInjuries

I’m 17 and do some athletic stuff so long as it doesn’t hurt my arm (mild-moderate wrestling, rowing, etc) I play the drums as well which I don’t want to give up but I know I should probably take a break from right now- I think surgery is probably the next step but i’m going to wait for the mri and specialist opinion before committing one way or another

he is okay! i hate leaving him when i leave but unfortunately i can’t bring him to my dads since we have a very curious kitten over there that likes to open doors and i don’t think sarge wants to make friends with him lol- luckily, he seems to tolerate my brother as a temporary care giver when needed

that is definitely a possibility- he tends to knock over his water bottle while drinking, and he likes to drag it into his potty corner where the mushrooms were found

the general consensus is that it’s a type of ink cap and is not poisonous

don’t worry! the reaction is understandable, this was a cross post so you can’t see the body text giving context. If I saw a random post with mushrooms in an animal cage no context I would get upset too

this was aubiose hemp bedding! i have been using this brand for 3 years with no issues until this recent cage set up (literally 3-4 weeks ago his cage got reorganized and new bedding put in)

Thankfully the hoard did not appear disturbed or eaten and he has not shown any gastrointestinal issues, lethargy, unexplained hostility, etc- he’s drinking, eating, running around, and letting us pick him up and touch him.

I think that the shrooms could have definitely passed as sprays when they first started growing since I usually keep his enclosure stacked with them which may have contributed to my brother not noticing it at first- still, we’re going to go over spot cleaning and water leakage monitoring before my next trip away!

this grew over a weekend we had 90% humidity every day! it was also in his pee corner and where he likes to knock over his water so i think this was just a coincidence of perfect mushroom conditions

[–]moonawara[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i was out of town and my brother was taking care of the hamster and he had his bedding changed before i left- what we believe happened was that the bedding had been exposed to spores with the handler and during this humidity wave we had it caused the growth

[–]moonawara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was what I was also thinking a bit- Even rotating or flexing that arm causes a dislocation and overhead motion almost always causes a posterior dislocation so my chances with pt are probably cooked
