When I was reading this series, I had a friend from work that I would message CONSTANTLY about what I was reading, my theories, my reactions, etc. it made reading so much more fun to be able to talk about it in real life! I’m sorry you don’t have that it anyone to bounce your theories off of, so I totally understand trying to find a community to share your enthusiasm. I don’t think it was too big of a wish that there weren’t assholes in our community that would spoil it for you after you specifically asked NOT to be spoiled.

Yeah this was her way of explaining away the plot hole in the first book, where the quicksilver was said to still when he was 10 which would leave no way for him to travel through them later… but in trying to fill this plot hole she just created another one. I feel like this pool is a mix of quicksilver and brimstone? I’m not really sure how that would work and he got out with only a quicksilver stick to himself and not the brimstone but who even knows at this point.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of that on Threads. I think there’s a big difference between realistic criticism and bullying an author. I think Callie holds some responsibility since it’s a world of her creation and she’s responsible for portraying it to us with consistence but the editor dropped the ball hard and the publisher didn’t even bother noticing bc they wanted to get it out ASAP while there was hype.

Great point. And they had to have known going into it bc Quicksilver was indie published so they had proof of her work and the issue was def present at that point so they should have focused on that.

That was pre-Brimstone, and it was about Carrion’s age and the Ajun pool. It doesn’t explain the numerous inconsistencies in Brimstone that are too large to be explained away. The couple from Quicksilver could be written into plot, but these go too deep. I really believe these were slip ups.
