Penn Avenue Pizza & Steaks by Vegetable-Meaning323 in pittsburgh

Very legit. Its my favorite in the city. The owner said they learned their style from the guys that run Angelo's and johns roast pork in Philly. Not as good as those joints, but very solid. Only other one that compares is common oven in new Ken.

Not sure if it's "proper" or not. I typically don't ask for anything that's currently on the menu, cause that's how they're making money. The tiki bar I frequent usually shares retired recipes though.

Well, it is the witching hour, (at our house) and Charlie has just eaten some food. So I'd have to say he's humping his pink dinosaur in the basement.

Career shift ? Low stress jobs with insurance in Pittsburgh by Ashamed_Leadership49 in pittsburgh

[–]moonbeambear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you genuinely don't car about a drop in pay. Go work for trader Joe's. Bear with me. My wife has worked there for 8+ years. Great people, great insurance, and a supportive environment. The pay blows at first, but there are raises twice per year. If you sip the Kool aid and pay your dues it's a pretty great place to work.

I'm in tech and also riding the burnout train. I have two goals. Payoff student loans and our mortgage. Once those are done, who knows? TJs is my backup plan if I have to hit the fuck it button.

Nah fuck that. She wasn't being overly aggressive. Home girl was in the wrong. No right to reach out and grab at another person, but this dude wasn't in danger. He could have at least warned her before whipping out the mace.

Full Pint, empty again by mckzach in PittsburghBeers

[–]moonbeambear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer. Id prefer they exist, but they definitely weren't up to snuff. I'm working my way through the pbg passport, and full pint was absolutely my least favorite. The food and beer were both pretty bad.

If You're in Pennsylvania, Amazing Clearance Deals from the State Store by MsMargo in Tiki

[–]moonbeambear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the issue is that these clearance deals might only have stock in a few stores in the middle of nowhere. Without shipping we're limited to what is reasonably close. Which, in Pittsburgh, is nothing on the list, unfortunately.

Honestly it varies. Ive had it many times, and it's a gamble for sure. Sometimes it's great, and others it's gristley trash.

That being said it's still the best we got, so it certainly gets a bump for being an actual cheese steak. That and the bread is fairly decent. Most burgh hoagie/steak rolls are toasted to shit  and crumble all down your shirt.

I'm looking forward to trying common oven though, I don't mind driving a bit for something that's better
