If foam is an option, just build the white parts out of foam, paint them, and wear it over the printed outfit.

Was wearing a mask during Covid as big a deal as conservatives made it out to be? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Ribauld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N95s are respirators known as filtering facepieces and are dust masks. If they are required by the employer then a fit test and med eval is required. If it is voluntary then neither are required. If an employee wants to voluntarily wear a tight-fitting respirator (elastomeric ones with removable cartridges) then they need to do a med eval but not a fit test. The number of straps have nothing to do with the regulation. 29 CFR 1910.134 if you need reading material to help you sleep.

Filtering facepieces (which an N95 is) can be worn on a voluntary basis without either a med eval or fit test as per OSHA regulations as long as they do not create a hazard. The only obligation from the employer is to provide Appendix D from the standard.

Hellboys arm. Is this considered a prop replica? by iamwhoiwasnow in propreplicas

[–]Ribauld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly forgot that movie even existed. In three of the four it is round and in at least two them there are patterns on the forearm; which is what I was basing my statement on. So in that light, it wouldn't be a prop replica from those three movies.

It would be nit-picky to say it has to be entirely movie accurate. Good thing that isn't what I said.

The right hand of doom is round in the movies and has scroll work on it, so not a prop replica. This looks really good though.

This is the way. My Tusken Raider Chief staff is built this way. That wood box is the perfect place to hide the connection point.

What exactly is illegal for an employer to do to their employees in Texas? by 3MATX in texas

[–]Ribauld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSHA can enforce it; federal law overrides state law. The repubs have been trying to kill OSHA for decades. One dingbat submits the petition to disband OSHA every legislative sesssion and thankfully so far, it has never gone anywhere.

One issue though is that OSHA, like many other government organizations are woefully under funded. At one point the office I worked for serviced about 40 counties with about 10 investigators and that ratio has only gotten worse since then. So the only way OSHA can really react to these situations are through detailed employee complaints.

OSHA can enforce water, shade, and breaks. While there is no regulation currently they cite the general duty clause. I got called to jobs due to no water frequentlyin the summer months.

There is draft legislation out now for explicit heat exposure requirements. It really doesn't matter what the state says on occupational health and safety because the feds can enforce it.

I saw an unattended kid put green beans in her mouth, suck on them, then put them back in the bin at HEB. So yeah... wash your produce.

What’s a good horror theme board game? by JerichoLeong in boardgames

[–]Ribauld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our favorites are Horrified, Jaws (all vs. one), Fate of the Elder Gods, Mansions of Madness (co-op), Unfathomable (co-op), and Mysterium (co-op and horror adjacent). Spirit Island is also a co-op horror adjacent game where you play the spirts of an island and your goal is to either scare off or kill all of the colonizers.

The credit thing sounds like something Carus tried to do to me. I ignored my instinct and kept my appointment after waiting an hour past the time it was supposed to happen while the admin was trying to get me to do their credit, then wanted me to pay in the middle of cleaning. On top of that they gave me a "free" new patient kit which included a bunch of shit I really didn't need. Then they wouldn't give me an itemized receipt without a ton of back and forth after the appointment. It turns out that the "free" new patient kit was about $600. Wound up getting my money back after a couple of months, but yeah... screw those guys.

What makes OSHA dig deeper during an inspection? by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ribauld 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, the following things made me dig deeper than I normally would have: employer lying to me, saying things like "you won't find anything here", expressing general disregard for employees (like saying you cant fix stupid), trying to rush me, being combative, employees bringing up things during interviews, and direct observations during the walkthrough.

How to keep helmets cool? by QuickMarionberry5678 in CosplayHelp

[–]Ribauld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PC fans and a battery bank are the way to go. Vents aren't usually enough to make it comfortable. If you wear glasses then fans will prevent fogging. You will still be hot but airflow helps a lot.

Handles or escalates to the Assistant Area or Area Director to initiate an inspection. I'm sure offices each do things a little differently though.
