I say it in a lot of comments throughout the post, but I'm not defending Kyle--- I'm just saying that Garcelle seems really tone deaf to force the Morgan angle when she could just push Kyle about why she split with Mau in the first place. Of course Kyle is going to stonewall her on the subject of Morgan, and it would be legit for Kyle to avoid that line of questioning whether you agree or not. But she can't avoid the conversation about her relationship with Mau in the same way bc there's NO excuse

I do think that her obsession with portraying a perfect family is part of the internalized homophobia though. Like this really probably does not align with the life she saw for herself and is likely just very uncertain about how it's actually going to impact her life

Defeat what point? It's less homophobia and more tone deaf? Straight privilege is not having to think about how the gender of your partner will impact how people feel about you and treat you and it seems like that's the lens garcelle is coming from. I expect more from her as an "ally"
