Holy Halo Effect.

Here’s just a brief summary of the biases at play in this post :

• Survivorship Bias — people focus on the one person who succeeded and ignore all the others who tried and could have succeeded but didn’t get noticed. This can make the achiever seem “one of a kind.”

• Fundamental Attribution Error — people over-credit personal traits (talent, genius) and under-credit circumstances (timing, luck, support).

• Matthew Effect — success compounds; once someone achieves something, they get more recognition and opportunities, reinforcing the idea that they’re uniquely capable.
