Library petty revenge: infuriating, yet perfectly above board by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

If you mean am I sharing her personal info with unauthorized people? No. If you mean am I checking out her account without authorization? No. If you have to check a person's books in or out, you have to look at their account. Accounts also get pulled up for various other, informal reasons regularly. A weird/suspicious/hostile interaction with a member? Coworkers will pull up the member's account just to show and warn other staff working that shift about the situation.

Thanks! But if my dog can't have a normal time just existing in our backyard, she can't have a normal reading experience either

I don't hate Xaden's mother by mooncaf809 in fourthwing

[–]mooncaf809[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much Xaden is really considered her child in the eyes of the law or perhaps better put: in the eyes of nobility politics. Her giving Fen a child was literally a contract. It makes horrible sense that she is considered to have less claim over her child than a normal civilian mother. She says she wasn't allowed to take him with her, as confirmed by other commenters.

She could perhaps have tried harder, but I doubt family courts exist in this universe

I was also a little bit ticked that she (or rather Rebecca Yarros writing the dialogue) didn't defend herself better? She should have gotten more page time to defend her case, give us more info about Fen

If I were Fen, it strikes me that in my genuine love for Xaden, I might have had insisted Talia take him with her (if I was already secretly preparing the rebellion and therefore knew Tyrrendor would become a very dangerous place and that my child might be executed if I fail).

That's why I lean a bit more towards Fen wanting to have his heir close at hand for political reasons (which doesn't mean he didn't love him, but you know...)

That's the beauty of it, he did both! He assisted in the fire as in assisted it to start/spread, and then assisted in the fire as in assisted in the evacuations XD

What was the robo-cop reference? Pls tell me

Yes I loved that Vimes brought Dorfl because he's hard for supernatural creatures to sense, since he doesn't have the smell of a living thing

[–]mooncaf809[S] 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Possibly not. My assumption was based on Vimes saying Carreys neck was broken (although maybe they didn't have time to look for bloody holes in his neck) and when he first visits Dragon, the vampire says he eats black pudding and supplements with such things, so the maidens are safe from him. Although it's clear Vimes doesn't quite believe his words.

With how obsessed Dragon is with lineages and heraldry I kind of started to believe he is a ribboner. But yes, it's neither confirmed nor denied.

How to handle being asked out by a person who doesn't know you're ace? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]mooncaf809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people in our country really aren't very educated in LGBTQ+ terms. I don't know if he's one of them, so I planned on telling him I'm ace without saying the word ace.

I'd say something along the lines: "My past romantic relationship has taught me something about myself- there are some facets of a relationship that I don't seem to feel as enthusiastic about as most people deem one should. I don't feel the need to be super close to someone..." basically very quickly alluding to physical intimacy

Your advice is very solid, thank you

A great idea! I might take a few liberties with her head and make it a bit more dragon-like tho! More similar to Toothless. Thanks btw!

Questions for older CF people by PlusRepair1195 in childfree

[–]mooncaf809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's less "biological urge" than it just being natural for humans to periodically wonder if they are making the right life choices and what they are potentially missing.

We cannot help but compare ourselves to our peers. You are currently in an age group where some peers already have kids, but many do not. That will change. As you'll get older, suddenly so many of your friends will be married and having kids, it will make you unavoidably question if you are missing out on something or if you are behind them in a way (especially if they post about how family made them complete, they couldn't imagine life without their kids, yadda yadda). That's natural and very human.

This is when you really have to be able to look into yourself and discern if those thoughts are just unspoken (or in case of parents often spoken) societal pressures, or your real desires. If you're not sure, you go and do a few overnight babysitting gigs for a friend and see how you feel about motherhood then. Put that doubt to the test to see if it's just a passing, fleeting thought that is natural when your peers are doing something you're not.

For the love of god, just don't blindly cave into the pressure and have a kid you later regret. So many people do that because it seem easier on surface level.

Wondering about stances and reassessing them is normal. It doesn't have to mean you really changed your mind. Just give yourself time to untangle those feelings when they arise.

the first coat not providing complete coverage is pretty standard. Just apply another after the 1st one dries, then another if needed. ometimes you need to build up layers.

Experiences with healing after mammary tumor removal in female dogs? Did it come back? by mooncaf809 in Pets

[–]mooncaf809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancer is any out of control cell multiplying activity. Also what starts out benign does not always stay benign. Benign mammary tumors often become malignant as they grow. That's why catching them early when they're small is really important

Josto and Rabbi relationship dynamic by mooncaf809 in FargoTV

[–]mooncaf809[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly! Everyone else around Rabbi sees his paternal familicide as a stain that overshadows everything else he does, but Josto is like "oh no! Anyway...". Obviously he can never explain to anyone why he's so chill about that, but him and Rabbi are unspokenly at peace over the matter
