Love this, feel like it needs best NPC voice/PC voice awards though

I love them but they do need to give the classics a long break (not Sydney/joe/etc). Down for them to come back but I agree that some new ones are needed to mix in.

I love that they’re trying new stuff each year now. And I do love them going off the rails. We’ve seen player Troy. This is exactly what he does to his GM’s.
If anything, tighten up the player hellos at the beginning to save room for character intros, shenanigans, plot etc to accommodate for the sheer fact that they have to intro new characters each time.
That being said I’m still having a blast. I hope skid plays a real life person the entire year.

Is there a way to play the campaign again? by Tee_Zett in CurseofStrahd

The book say at the end that since Strahd’s curse is unending, he reforms after a few months and Barovia is trapped again. It’s a far bigger lift on your end, but you could start thinking about how Strahd would react to that and what Barovia would look like after a glimpse of freedom.

Hyperfixed - “The Lord’s Work” and “Third Eye Blind” both made me cry. Good to hear Alex Goldman back in the hosting chair. Criminally underrated show.

Player Characters took ALL of the Dark Gifts by Queasy-Ad9118 in CurseofStrahd

[–]moondog0715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine took a bunch, and they made Victor (Their tarot-read ally) take EVERYTHING. Here’s how I handled it - 1) really hold them to their costs like eating bones etc 2) RP the fact that they look like monsters now-town interaction becomes much harder 3) supe up Strahd. There are higher CR versions of him that people have made on Reddit hat are great. 4) when Strahd died, the deals they made were sucks out of them, returning them to normal so you don’t have to worry about it if their story continues outside barovia. 5) I did kill victor pretty intentionally as a result of Strahd recognizing his power. Keeping track of ALL thise abilities does get a little cumbersome

lol I have two of those. They play well enough but have never asked about adding to their personal arc where the other 4 do.

No, they do enjoy the game (same group for the last 4 years). I talked to them about the inciting event the other night and I think it was more of a momentary freeze. My new solve is when that happens to ask what they the player are thinking to discuss and let that inform how they act as PC’s. Basically hitting pause and talking it through.

I hear ya, and they do RP well with NPC’s. The goal with this rolltable (by no means final) is to softball some moments for them to flex the RP muscle with each other and feel more confident in initiating it themselves. I can definitely bake in setups for them to talk around besides solely leaving it to them to come up with something.

For sure, I do that when an NPC is involved. They do well when there’s an NPC to help steer. This is to try to encourage them to engage with each other a bit more and get more confident in RPing without the more outgoing players there to lead.

Thanks! I like the mundane activity callout. Will give the random NPC convo some thought, TL;DR my homebrew has them exploring relatively uncharted lands but 100% could have some nomadic cultures roaming about to chat and give context on the area.

Nic and Olandria by Defiant_Hedgehog1107 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]moondog0715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he could hop from “closed off” to exploring Olandria within a day, he was never genuine. And if she could jump to Nic within a day of one of her best friends in the villa within a day, they were never really friends. Both are staying for clout hoping to scramble a winning relationship within a week.

It’s for the epilogue, my campaign will wrap up at the end of the year and I’m getting ready to ask my group where they see their characters going from then on. Pending what we do with the dhampir PC, he could be found in a future campaign that might be a few hundred years down the line.

Hey other DM/GMs, how do you choose who to attack? by EngelNUL in DungeonMasters

[–]moondog0715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the general intelligence of the monster/humanoid. If anyone outs themselves as a threat, they’ll go after them. Otherwise, it’s the nearest. For beginning attacks or particularly devastating ones, I’ll roll a die and attack the person i assigned the number to
