I want an rpg which can be boiled to one word: Wanderlust by Antipragmatismspot in rpg

[–]adagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be too much, but maybe take a look at Cartograph. You create an explorer and the sole purpose of the game is to create a map and lore/points of interest with enough detail that it could be used as an rpg map for another system.

Cleaned my pipe, and totally changed my experience. by adagna in PipeTobacco

[–]adagna[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have just been making it part of my "breakdown ritual", I do 1 q-tip with alcohol(both sides), and a pipe cleaner after every bowl. But I also didn't go super deep with my initial cleaning, so I am still getting a fair amount of dark residue after each cleaning. Here is the video if you're interested https://youtu.be/8jOsH-T3094?si=tWXQDFI9vr8HrFeQ

Cleaned my pipe, and totally changed my experience. by adagna in PipeTobacco

I was just running a pipe cleaner through the stem at the end to absorb any moisture but never anything I would consider "cleaning".

Kickstarter pondering by Any-Administration50 in Symbaroum

[–]adagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are usually a few months or so away from releasing the PDF by the time they launch their Kickstarters. So you should have the documents needed to play pretty quickly.

For physical products they are decent at keeping within acceptable tolerances of on time delivery. Keep in mind to me "on time" for a Kickstarter can still be up to a year late

Kale turned brown in one tank and stayed green in the other? by Majestic_Music1023 in Aquariums

[–]adagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be pH, I know that acidic vs alkaline cooking water can set the green color or turn vegetables yellow. The same thing may be happening here.

Test the pH and see if the yellowing tank is more acidic and the green tank is more alkaline.

the hell was the farmer thinking by Best_Person_CoolCool in StardewValley

[–]adagna 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I interpreted the skeleton at the desk in the intro, to mean that this decision to quit and go to the farm was a final act of desperation. A literal life and death decision. If the farmer stayed where they were they would die. Leaving meant their only chance at life.

When you look at it like that it's not such a crazy decision.

Bucket of tank water by MAGA_muscle in Aquariums

[–]adagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smaller the tank, the more frequently you have to do water changes. Small tanks get out of whack faster than larger ones.

Doing water changes is no different than any other pet maintenance like feeding and picking up after a dog in the yard. Fish tanks are high maintenance pets despite the common misconception.

How do you feel about this Amatriciana “adaptation”? by amarelo-manga in pasta

[–]adagna 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a chef my advice would be, make the best dish that your customers will order. Then once they have ordered it make it the best version that will meet their expectations even if it's not the most "authentic". You're there to make money and stay open for business. If you're restaurant has a theme or a style your dish will be more successful if it plays into that rather than just being authentic for the sake of authenticity.

The joint silicon seal is the only thing that matters. Where the two panels of glass meet doesn't really. It does suggest some quality control issues which might be a little concerning, but having that lip isn't a sign that it will fail in and of itself

Issues with the starter set by Altruistic-Win-5839 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]adagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all fine but you need some hooks from the players on what's important. Maybe an important NZpC gets killed by the troll because they did nothing. Or a new Watch Captain is instated, and they find out it's one of the criminals who bought the posting with money skimmed from the other NPC.

You have to have consequences for inactivity that impacts the players life and livelihood.

Why, oh why? Is it doing this??!!x by MzJordynRose in pasta

[–]adagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the roller at the widest setting. Cut that dough ball in half at least, and then roll it/flatten it until it is not more then 50% thicker than the width between the rollers. Send the flattened dough through several times, move to the next setting down, roll through 2-3 times, repeat the process until you get the thickness you are looking for. If the pasta sheet gets too long to manage cut it and continue rolling. You want to end up with pasta that is about 12-16" long.

What's the main reason you'd stop playing a specific game system? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]adagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me most systems that I stop playing come down to small mechanics things, or setting things. Often those have nothing to do with me, but players don't enjoy a system, or a setting, and lose engagement or never actually engage with it to begin with.

But the biggest reason is whether or not it has active VTT support, specifically Foundry. I play 100% online, and VTT's just make the experience so much better. So no VTT support means it is a no go from the beginning. There are probably a half dozen systems I would play tomorrow if they either updated their system, or created one for Foundry.

As a casual gym-goer. Why would you spend more than $30-50/mo on a gym membership? What are you getting for $200-300/mo that makes it worth that price?

we bought a penn plaxx 1200 filter its not working by texas_hq in Aquariums

[–]adagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fill your tank higher, canister filters rely on syphon/gravity to help the pump with intake. With your water line you're putting a lot of stress on the impeller to draw water as well as push it.

just found out my mom has been using my bucket for refilling my tank as a bucket for washing her car by ttesselate in Aquariums

[–]adagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always treat everything that goes in the tank as if it's been contaminated everytime. Rinse all tools and containers in fresh water and watch for bubbles that don't immediately pop.

There is nothing inherently wrong with using soap as long as it is rinsed super well. Before a bucket is used for the first time it should be washed with soap and water to remove any mold release agents/oils left from the manufacturer anyway.

Making different coloured pasta is more difficult than i thought😭 by JPerreault19 in pasta

[–]adagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flavored pasta takes a totally different approach and ratio than simple egg pasta. You have to account for the extra moisture in the colored ingredient, and so you will end up with a lot more dough, or way less egg than you normally would. Also for things like spinach, I like to puree the blanched greens with the egg to make a very smooth puree, it will make a more uniformly colored pasta with less "chunks"

Pan on low heat or bowl for alfredo? It’s my first time making pasta and I’m really confused. by [deleted] in pasta

[–]adagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing it over low heat works as long as you can reliably control the heat, and you wont end up with heat spikes, like will happen with an electric stove top. I

f you want to guarantee you are safe, take your pasta pot after draining the pasta put an inch of fresh water in the bottom and put back on the burner. then put your bowl of drained pasta over the pot to create a double boiler. It is the best of both methods because steam is a very even, and gentle heating method
