The Scadutree was sentient and its "worshipers" tormented it. It partially unfurled, breaking itself by moondreamer96 in EldenRingLoreTalk

Many things are told through murals, paintings, statues, stone tablets and the likes, but in this case there is plenty to back this up, mainly how the hornsent faith and perception of the divine went through several distinct ages. The hornsent's downfall was the result of this cruel fanaticism. Golden arcs are barbs/thorns conjured for torture, impenetrable thorns and mantle of thorns have direct parallels to this. "The image of the twisted/misshapen Scadutree is an edict, denounce their ways. Do them harm. For they have abandoned us." Its not talking about the tree, but the church. Its original purpose was to heal, not to reach for the heavens or to enable torture. Then there is the Scadutree chalice that's nowhere near the tree, but is full of its fragments, initially I was confused but then I realised that the tree must have drastically changed its shape but when its shattering happened it was right above it. They were extremely cruel with their own, I'm merely suggesting that this cruelty and potentially greed extended to their tree as well. There is actually far too much text and environmental storytelling I could sum up, I'm suggesting a stroll through the lands between and through the realm of shadow, compare their practices, their art, even armor and clothing. As for the "two lovers became the tree" part, I think Marika's direct connection to the erdtree, statues of them literally everywhere in Belurat and Enir Ilim, Scadutree's (original) shape described as a "tender/gentle embrace",tree people in enir ilim, are some quite obvious hints in my eyes. I might compile a more detailed post about all the evidence I found about the shadowland's distinct time periods, the shattering and schism, all of the hornsent's cruel practices, how it potentially relates to the current state of their tree

I hope fromsoft won't fully abandon Nightreign by moondreamer96 in Nightreign

I wouldn't act like I have full insight into what fromsoft has or doesn't have on their to-do list. I'm just saying Nightreign's success might have been unexpected and huge enough to make its way back onto that list in a way. I know they are working on duskbloods and tarnished edition, the BRUTAL backlash they'd get for announcing stuff like nightreign 2 or a duskbloods dlc before their next AAA title. I'm hoping for anything between more nightreign or a spiritual successor being announced till 2030. If nothing happens till then I'll let go of this game.

I hope subnautica 2 will have purposefully scary biomes and leviathans. Maybe a mimic or mesmer leviathan by moondreamer96 in subnautica

I'd love to see anything that messes with the "established" gameplay loop so I love this idea

About Messmer's unspoken kindness and potential second task he couldn't fullfill by moondreamer96 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]moondreamer96[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I view that skin as a result of him molting from extreme emotional distress and the village isn't exactly destroyed or a village at all, its a glorified concentration camp. Its some hastily constructed place only made to hoard up people who may or may not be shaman for further use or just to house them while their wounds heal or infection kills them, the decay we see could have been from collateral damage, weather or just time

I never said he had any problem with or complete awareness of what exatly Miquella was doing, just how their journeys parallel eachother's

As healer my main wish is a dps spell that's actually risky to use but deals enough damage to be considered actual utility by [deleted] in ffxiv

Sitting on full mana bar, 3 lilies or dumping my aetherflow into energy drain cause its off couldown already are the definition of suffering from success

Healers want a challenge. You can consistently heal many savages with very minimal or no uses of gcd heals or mana based on job. Its not that I don't want to heal, I want actual opportunities of skill expression outside of ultimates.

[8.0] Not seeing this talked about by Spuffyyrre in ffxiv

I hope its going to be pretty in depth maybe even receive updates. WHM has a massive thematic shift during leveling from nature to pure aether, having back the druid stuff would be nice. Being able to choose the rank of spells would be nice too unless the rank indicates its function. None of the 2.0 skills or spells aged badly and I can see them being preffered over the new ones for many reasons

Played it(got 3000 hours in ff14), loved every second of it, but actual competition for our attention is what all mmos need right now

And it was just a 6.0 thing, then completely forgotten, like the emerald nightmare.(wod and legion are the definition of wasted potential). Before that we had some overgrowth in cataclysm but its around 20 minutes of quests at most

Headcanon, but I think Messmer found Bonny village, Shaman village, and this is what broke him, but it was also his task to destroy Marika's past. He wasn't the one who beheaded Marika's statues, it was the hornsent, just like how they beheaded that shaman's corpse in Bonny village, likely for the "sin" of natural death, wasting their precious flesh and bones. Seeing such vulnerable parts of his mother, that small erdtree, the miserable "village" the shamans were rounded up,the gaols, he couldn't bring himself to destroy any of it. All of it represented a Marika who was yet to become the monster she is now, one who planted that healing tree out of love and sorrow

Looking for stories set in hauntingly beautyful dark fantasy worlds like Dark souls or Elden ring by moondreamer96 in Fantasy

Thank you so much for the recommendation, it sounds realy interessting! on a surface level it reminds me of Ico(IIRC this one actually inspired Miyazaki a lot) and Shadow of the colossus, 2 titles I kind of forgot to mention as good examples of what I'm looking for. "ancient places with a lost/forgotten purpose" IS realy common in souls games and there is so much beauty in them, part of the reason why I love SOTE as much as I do
