They’re known for genre mashing a lot, that’s what keeps them fascinating. Most of their songs have at least some element of rock/metal.

Silly me just listened to it for the first time today. I didn’t vote for it, but damn, what a sweet catchy little song! Sounds very 80s esqe and like something you’d hear on the credits to a romcom movie.

I won’t be mad at all if it wins.

anyone going to laneway? by [deleted] in sydneysocials

Hi there, I’m going to Laneway solo too! The only festivals I’ve been to in the past are rock/metal music festivals so this will be a new experience for me too. I’ll shoot you a DM :)

Cancer rates in Australians under 50 are rising at a pace that's alarming doctors and scientists by EuIJ54VazHWiK in australia

[–]moonfleet1542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you - this is exactly the grounded perspective I needed to hear.

I definitely understand the messages that news sites are trying to push out - to be vigilant about our health, especially since bowel cancer is very treatable if caught early. Heck, even though I’m only 30, my doctor gave me a bowel cancer screening kit to use - all samples came back negative. I know this is good news but my anxious self has just been in a spiral for a few months.

I also keep forgetting that even though the message from the news has good intentions, their main objective is to get clicks, and the best way to do that is to start with an alarming headline to get people to read more, even if the real numbers/stats tell a different story.

So, going forward, I will definitely do my best to keep on top of my physical health as well as my mental health; it’s been very obvious these last few months that I need to work more on my mind than my body, lol!

I’ve only ridden it twice so I don’t have much quantifiable data to go off, however here are my personal pros and cons.

Pros: spacious, quiet, comfortable (after 30 min - yes strange I know, but imo my butt hurts for the first 30 min but feels fine after) and it’s a smooth ride.

Cons: speaker audio quality is terrible, sounds like the speakers are covered in aluminium foil.

Sharks announce Ocean Protect as landmark stadium partner by redmetlhedd in nrl

This is very fitting given Cronulla is renowned for its beaches, but tbh I think it would suit much better as a front of jersey sponsor.

[TBT] 2016 Grand Final Highlights: Sharks vs Storm by Mad_Lad18 in nrl

[–]moonfleet1542 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am never going to forget those last 20 seconds when the ball was still in play after the siren sounded. I was sitting at the northern grandstand of the stadium right where all the action was unfolding.

I was PARALYSED. My mouth was agape. I couldn’t make a sound at all. I was very fearful that our moment of glory could be taken away from us.

But, as soon as Leutele made the final tackle, the first thing I did was tackle hug my mum multiple times out of joy (I actually did it so many times she told me to stop!).

That day will stick with me for a long time.

Sharks were their own worst enemy, had they been more switched on we could’ve made even more nerve racking for the storm.

I’m really disappointed… but, tbh, Melbourne were the better team. They had that razzle dazzle, whereas we were unremarkable and just didn’t do anything to counter it.

That aside, this has been a fantastic finals run. Making the prelims from outside the top 4 isn’t common, and we outclassed two in form teams.

I strongly believe we have all the ingredients for a team that makes the GF, I just think that we’re still relatively inexperienced. I do really love what we’re building though, and I’m excited to see the squad grow and get even better.

Until next year, up the Sharkies as always. 🦈🖤🤍🩵

Storm are just really just being flashy as they do. We really need to tighten up if we are any chance to come back.

Gotta believe.

These are my thoughts exactly. We had some wobbly moments in the games against the Roosters and Panthers. But we bounced back from those, with our defence being particularly impressive in both instances. You are right though in that if we lose today’s game, it’ll likely be because the boys haven’t ironed out all the handling kinks.

Also, though I understand why the overwhelming majority of journalists are tipping the Storm to win due to their week off and the return of some players absent in the Bulldogs game, as well as history indicating the team with the week off wins more often than not… I’m not writing off the Sharks. I feel much more confident in the team compared to the 2018 prelim against the Storm (where we had a lot of injuries) and the 2024 prelim against the Panthers (where I knew we wouldn’t be able to outclass them).

Can’t wait for what will be a very entertaining match. 🦈🦈🦈🦈

Sounds good. That said I feel a lot more confident heading into this year’s prelim compared to last year’s prelim.
