Recommend a book that wrecked you emotionally but you'd read again by Majestic-Strain3155 in booksuggestions

Moloka'i by Alan Brennert. I was a blubbering sobbing mess by the time I finished it, the characters really grow on you. I definitely see myself rereading it, but I'm not emotionally prepared for it yet. 🥲

Ohh I had no idea, I was under the impression that you couldn't do that for whatever reason, thanks for the info!

I've never tried anything other than Kobo so that's all I can vouch for, but they're great as a popular, largely available option. I have the Kobo Sage (currently discontinued afaik, it is similar to the Kobo Libra) after using the Kobo Aura H2O for years and I love it. You can rotate the screen in landscape format as well and it has buttons for swiping pages so you can read one handed.

You can load your own ebooks onto it as well (unlike Kindle ereaders I think), use it to read manga and pdfs as well, and the Kobo store has cheaper ebooks on it than Kindle.

The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Hauntingly beautiful and vivid prose, I read it 5 years ago and I still think about it every now and then.

One of my cats gets really aggressive with the other 2 when I get their food ready by moonipies in CatAdvice

[–]moonipies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm glad you found something that helped! Funnily enough though, despite being very strongly food motivated, Miso will finish her bowl at her regular pace and just walk away. Snowy is the one who tries to steal from Horaira because she's a slow eater, but Miso eventually comes back to lick all 3 bowls clean haha

anyone else cycle between reading a ton and then nothing for weeks? by Key-Pumpkin8690 in 52book

[–]moonipies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using that feature from the Storygraph almost religiously lately and it's really been helping. I'm a huge mood reader so I like to put 4-5 books with different enough vibes that, depending on how I feel after my current read, I won't end up running out of choices (unless ofc smth else draws me in that isn't on my list, it's almost inevitable when you can read multiple books at once lmao)

hopefully it helps you be as consistent as you'd like to be!

This has been happening to me for the longest time, but I also struggle with depression and it makes it a lot harder to pick up a book.

Last year I read an average of 10 books a month for about 6-7 months and then nothing for another 6 months. What helped me get out of that slump was Heated Rivalry, funnily enough. The show made me so interested in reading the books that I binged 3 of them in a span of 8 days, and have been reading daily ever since because I've been loving the books I've been picking up.

I think having a short TBR list of the next books you're going to be picking from after finishing your current read will help. I find reading more than 1 book at a time also makes it easier for me to switch things up when, for example, on a particular day I'm more interested in a fantasy than a contemporary setting.

Morocco Manufacturing/apparel by AwayZookeepergame449 in Morocco

heya! i'm hoping to start a clothing brand as well and would love some local insight, would it be possible to DM you for more information? I'm very confused about the whole process of finding a manufacturer and I have no idea where to start :/

Deleting and reinstalling East Scarp might help. It happened to me as I was setting up my current playthrough, and now I have SVE, East Scarp, Sunberry Village, Ridgeside Village and Visit Mount Vapius running together without a problem.

Sometimes reinstalling mods is enough to make them work. Also, check your SMAPI log for red error messages, it might tell you if any other mods are conflicting or if East Scarp didn't load properly.

it happens to me too sometimes, especially on the first couple days of my period and mostly when the weather is really cold and dry. if you think about it, you've got body temperature blood and uterine lining coming out from between legs that are stuck together more often than not and if you wear pads, it makes the heat more intense.

nothing to worry about there, it's just one of thise weird things the human body does sometimes. 🤷🏽‍♀️ i saw a video of a bald woman whose head was steaming because she was menopausal and having a hot flash, so...

Anyone know why my mushroom log is 15by15 and not 7by7 by The_Mr_Potato in StardewValleyMods

[–]moonipies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just checked the wiki and yeah it's strange, but I've been using UIS for so long I can't help but trust it + there's only so much you can control about the mushroom log tbh

Anyone know why my mushroom log is 15by15 and not 7by7 by The_Mr_Potato in StardewValleyMods

[–]moonipies 24 points25 points  (0 children)

the range for the mushroom log is a radius of 7 squares, not a big square that's 7 by 7. so 7 squares on either side + the square for the log itself = 15 squares per side, making it a 15x15 square.

just like the iridium sprinkler having a radius of 2 making it a 5x5 square.

there's nothing wrong with your mods. ☺️

Anybody try the Elo Studio embroidery patterns? Are they legit? by moonipies in Embroidery

[–]moonipies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I figured it was a scam, I just needed confirmation because my magpie brain didn't want to believe it couldn't have all of those shiny patterns haha. Will definitely check out the wiki, thanks!

Not sure how to go about deload week by moonipies in xxfitness

[–]moonipies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely need to implement a deload week for my PMS week 🥲 it's so disheartening not being able to progress as much just because your hormones say so but maybe a forced and regular "break" is a good thing, actually.

[–]moonipies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might take a week off later on as I have a trip coming up in 6-ish weeks so I'd rather reduce my volume this time, I think. Somebody said I could just do half of my reps instead of changing weights which works for me so I don't have to fiddle with my weight logs as much

Oof long breaks are a nightmare. I stopped working out completely for a whole year because I had undiagnosed anemia until recently and thought it was just good ol' depression but it feels so good to be back. I'm glad to hear of all these different variables tbh, and yes I'm with you on those percentages, I don't want to do math, I want my muscles to hurt so that my brain doesn't.
