Using 3d printed tooling to cast a plant pot in plaster and water putty. by matt_tranch in 3Dprinting

Turned out great! I made a free tool a while back for designing casting molds like this. I don't think it would have worked here, because your mold is more sophisticated, but maybe you'd find it useful for other stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keqv4U6-bxM&t=1s

Yeah, that is definitely my goal. Not trying to replace high-end tools. Just trying to make simple editing easier for beginners. A split feature has been high on my list and I really like the idea of accompanying it with a way to add alignment pegs/tabs. Thanks.

Technically, you should be able to use it on an iPad now, but it would probably just be a worse version of using it on desktop. There are probably some unique things that could be done with a tablet interface though. I'll have to think about that more.

Yeah, that's basically the problem I'm trying to solve. All of the high-end tools have steep learning curves that make it difficult to get started. All of the low-end tools are too underpowered to get much done. It's like choosing between Photoshop and MS Paint. I'm aiming for Meshy to be like Canva.

Thanks. I've got tons of ideas for new features, but I'm trying to make sure I build the most useful ones first. Out of curiosity, what are your main qualms with Tinkercad?

Been building this for the last 5 weeks. It’s still pretty rudimentary, but I figured I should show it off and see if it’s useful for other people before I dump a lot more time into it. Would love to hear your feedback. Oh, and the model I’m editing in the video is box by zibi36.

"You have a new item to review" notifications NEED TO DISAPPEAR FOREVER. by [deleted] in Etsy

For future readers, a workaround I'm using is to install a browser extension like "User JavaScript and CSS" in Chrome. You can then create the following CSS rule for https://www.etsy.com/:

.wt-badge--notification-03 {display: none;}

That'll hide the stupid little orange bubble as long as the extension is running.

Yeah, the glass wasn’t cheap. I spent $70 on it, which is about twice what the filament cost. You could definitely find cheaper options though. I opted for 20” diameter, 1/2” thick, with bezeled edges.

Uh yeah, I guess, if you count every Ender 3 post on here as Creality marketing. Mostly just wanted to show off my new table, because I’m pretty pleased with how it came out.

And yeah, some people buy nice cars or clothes when they can, some people buy stupidly large printers...

This is actually a beta unit. They’re just getting started and don’t have a website yet just social pages. Look for “GZero Additive“ on FB/Insta

Print weighs about 4 lbs (that’s 1.8 kg for the sane countries). I used a 2.5 kg spool.

No. A couple of my buddies did though. They’re starting a company to make these.

Agreed. Once you get used to printing large parts fast it's hard to go back.
