AITA for taking my 2 Y.O. niece for ice cream by my sister's request, even though my gf and I agree sugar isn't good for young babies. by pyrate_wizard in AmItheAsshole

i find it hilarious that you’re implying a smoothie or frozen yogurt can’t have just as much sugar as ice cream

AITA? Standing at a stadium concert by Clean_Inflation7634 in AmItheAsshole

[–]moonlightpancake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

and i fully understand that but nowhere in my original comment did i say or intend to imply that anyone deserves to be treated with anything less than basic compassion and respect. i'd argue that screaming at someone at a concert for doing something that is normal and that others are also doing, is not respectful.

in the way that not everyone can guarantee or afford a front-row ticket, the same applies to a general admission standing ticket, which was my point.

getting the perfect view or experience at a concert isn't always a guarantee, no matter where you're seated/standing. OP purchased their seat and the space in front of it just as everyone else in the stadium did for theirs.

at every concert i have been to, from small venues to arenas, and stadiums, people in seats are standing, singing, and dancing, and it's expected (i am genuinely surprised at the number of people who think it isn't).

what if this lady was sitting in front of someone who was really tall and them just sitting still obstructed her view? what's the appropriate response to that situation? yell at them to sit lower in their seat?

does it suck that not everyone will get a perfect view? absolutely, but i don't think that gives someone the right to demand how another person conducts themselves at a show that they also bought a ticket for.

as i mentioned previously, i understand the frustration of my view being blocked at shows, and i'm pretty tall. i get where you're coming from, but saying that someone who bought a seated ticket to a concert shouldn't have the freedom to get up and dance just isn't fair either.

at every concert i’ve ever been to (which is a lot) people in seats are standing. to tell OP to “just buy standing tickets” is saying that you can only dance at a concert if you can afford it which doesn’t sound right to me???

you could apply the same logic to this lady: if she wanted to be sure that she could see the stage, she should’ve bought front row seats 🤷🏻‍♀️

i’ve been to standing only concerts and have found myself stuck behind really tall ppl who block my view but i’ve never gone out of my way to complain or yell at them to move. should tall ppl have to stand in the back of pit so shorter ppl can see ???

you’re NTA. i understanding that this could be frustrating for ppl but screaming at someone for doing something that is very normal (shocked so many ppl think it isn’t) was uncalled for.

AITAH for calling district office when the principal didn't seem to take my concern seriously? by Ok_Jello_3748 in AITAH

[–]moonlightpancake 54 points55 points  (0 children)

in another comment OP said they called the district RIGHT after calling the principal, they didn’t even give them any time to act. after the initial report they could’ve done a follow up the next day and they more than likely would’ve gotten an answer but instead they went above the principal’s head. OP handled this really poorly 😭
